All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Dear brother in Islam, we would like to thank you for the great confidence you place in us, and we implore Allah Almighty to help us serve His cause and render our work for His Sake.
In the very beginning, it should be noted that our love for our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is really great. This love places many obligations and duties on our shoulders. Among these duties is showing respect to him.
While showing respect to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a Muslim should not mention the name of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) without a title, except in the tashahhud, as this is a command of the Prophet’s himself; he said, “Say, ‘O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and on the kith and kin of Muhammad… etc.’”
Besides, Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, when calling him, does not call him with his name (Muhammad); rather, He calls him in a manner that gives an impression of glorification. For example, in the Glorious Qur’an, He calls him saying, “O ye Prophet!” and “O ye Messenger!”
So, it is better for the Muslim to show respect to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) because Allah commands us to do so. As for the Hadith that reads, “Do not call me “master” in prayer,” it is not authentic. Explaining the necessity of showing respect and reverence to the Prophet while calling him, Allah Almighty says: “ Make not the calling of the messenger among you as your calling one of another.” (An-Nur: 63)
Scholars, however, unanimously agree that it is permissible to say “Our Master Muhammad” outside prayer, and the majority of scholars maintain that it is permissible to say this in prayer as well.
