Hwaa Irfan
Out of a culture that experienced the long-term psychological effects of colonalization, Hwaa Irfan explored the issue through a degree in child psychology and found more questions than answers.. Through long-term study, observation and practice in the field Hwaa Iran focused on developing her background in traditional healing mechanisms throughout various traditional systems. Along with her studies in Islamic jurisprudence (Jafari School), she was able to observe a pattern of ill-effects in Caribbean, African, Asia and some European communities through community work and case work.
◊ Because of her work in the multi-cultural community of south London (UK) and a privately run practice, she began to, work on clientele basis with mental health outpatients from several hospitals including Maudsley Hospital.
◊ Whilst completing her post-graduate studies as a Trainer of Teachers and Other Professionals, she trained medical professionals in trans-cultural mental health, as well as counselors, paralegals, social workers and housing and mental health workers who had English as a second language.
◊ In the 1990s, she focused on Aromatherapy and Counseling (Egan method, psycho-spiritual counseling and holistic development through all the religious and spiritual traditions).
For Hwaa Irfan, experience has proven that there is no contradiction between personal and global well-being and the mechanisms specified in the Islamic religious sciences.
