Afraid of being fired but I want to put on the hijab now that I have reverted
Question
I am a new revert. I have bought a new vehicle because I obtained a new job, and it makes life much easier on a daily basis, but I would also like to wear hijab as well, but am afraid that I will be fired. It is just myself and a toddler, and I cannot afford to lose the job.
Please advise on what to do? Should I just put it on and hope for the best? If it comes down to between getting fired and not wearing it, I am not sure what to do, as I do need the steady income.

Welcome to the universal community of Islam and Muslims. Insha'allah, God willing, you will be blessed with strong Iman and the will power to establish your own Islamic identity. Of course it is highly recommended that you wear the hijab now but you need to exercise wisdom and take some precautions so that you do not jeapordize your own job. We suggest that you contact the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Canada so that they can assist you in seeking and getting approval for wearing the hijab at work. Insha'allah the situation should never be allowed to deteriorate to the point where you have to be worried about losing your job and being without an income.
CAIR in Canada (www.cair-net.org) can help you in communicating your religious needs to your employers. And Allah (Swt) knows best.
