Shyness

By  Amina M. Adam

Image

It’s said shyness is a virtue

Rightly that’s true I cannot argue

In all sense it protects me

But it seems to make others angry

They call me names

Always targeting to defame

I get confused is it because am shy

Am picked out, teased and tormented that I cry?

I ask my sisters and brothers in Islam

Is shyness some kind of qualm?

I ask again, should I try to change?

Am bewildered, has shyness got me estranged?

They told me not to worry

That it’s there all over the countries

That I am not the only one

That it’s a personality hated by the demon

It’s a virtue most loved by Allah

Even mentioned in some ayah’s

Truly it’s not a disease

Do not hurt, we hope to appease

So let them say all they want

And let them do all they flaunt

Just know it will never do them any good

In reality, you are more than knighthood
