False Classification

Just as we, Muslims, cannot penetrate people's minds and tell them that they should not think about Islam and Muslims in a wrong way, no one can impose their vision upon us either. The standard basis of dealing with this report - as well as other such reports - should be refusing all that contradicts Islamic creeds and laws. We should also make it clear that it is not acceptable at all to classify Muslims in such a way or to generalize this classification, and that Muslims must absolutely refuse such a thing.

The report issued by the American Corporation (RAND) concerns only those who prepared it. We, on the other hand, have our own creed and laws that are governed by Shari`ah [Islamic Law]. This Shari`ah has its own fundamentals and rules that cannot be changed, simply because they have been provided by Allah and there is no obedience to a creature when it involves disobedience to the Creator. However, some of the civil issues cited in this report may encourage mutual communication among humans; the issue of democracy, for example, cannot be effectuated except within a framework based on Islamic religion, which has set conditions and regulations for it.

The report said something about reconsidering certain well-established texts about the status of woman, especially with regard to inheritance. The fact is that Islam has established rights of equality between men and women in all aspects, yet there are certain unchangeable rules such as those related to inheritance, which cannot be neither violated nor changed.

Moreover, the report considers the application of Islamic Shari`ah to be a form of racism, while in fact , this view is racist in its own right. It is thus clear that those who prepared this report do not believe in the Islamic Shari`ah, which approves all divine messages because there is no contradiction between Islamic Shari`ah and the other divine messages. Contradiction can only be with man-made laws as well as with the visions laid down and generalized by some people who think that they are the only sponsors and providers of knowledge and legislation, as if all people are stupid and they are above Allah's legislation -something that is quite sophistic.

To decisively respond to such reports, we must declare that no power whatsoever can oblige us to change our creeds and laws. We must also act upon Allah's instruction: [Say: (It is) the truth from the Lord of you (all). Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve] (Al-Kahf 18:29).

Finally, the reports and classifications made by Americans and others who are well-known for their bias against Muslims, should not worry Muslims in the least. Still, we should declare our rejection to whatever contradicts Shari`ah in their speech. If, however, they use violence and force to oblige us to accept or act upon such classifications, we are commanded to strive against them.

This widget will help you to store, organize, search, and manage your favorite online content through a range of social bookmarking services. These services permit users to save links to websites that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, but can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, or shared only inside certain networks. Authorized people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or through a search engine. Most social bookmarking services also permit their users to vote and rank public bookmarks to determine which are the best ones according to the number of votes they get.
