For over 60 years the Canadian Islamic Centre (Al-Rashid Mosque) has been serving the Muslim community of Edmonton and Northern Alberta. It is located in north Edmonton on 113th Street just south of 132nd Avenue. The original Al-Rashid Mosque was located in downtown Edmonton for over 40 years but due to the growth of the Muslim community and an increasing demand for services, a larger facility was needed. The original mosque was preserved and relocated at Fort Edmonton Park taking its rightful place in Edmonton's history and in the cultural heritage of North America.
