Political crises, more oft than not, have serious impacts on a country's natural resources, its environment, and on its people's general well-being. The situation in Palestine is no different. A land occupied for 56 years, it and its people have suffered irreparably. From the uprooting of crops and olive trees, to the intentional pollution and withdrawal of already scarce water resources, the Palestinian people endure pain and loss on a day to day basis, not only of human life, but of the very resources that sustain it.
The popular Palestinian uprising, better known as the second Palestinian Intifada, celebrates the completion of its fourth year. A lonely Intifada, in which we, as Muslims, have for the most part stood from afar and watched with pain and feelings of sympathy. As their suffering - and their gallant uprising - continue, we, as journalists, have chronicled for ages to come, the details of this human tragedy.
