AOL Launches Interactive Television Operation

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Interactive services company America Online announced the launch of an interactive television service, AOLTV, which will allow viewers to chat online, or send e-mails, while watching television.

The operation will first be launched in three regions - Phoenix, Arizona, Sacramento, California and Baltimore, Maryland. It follows AOL's successful drive to offer access to its online features via portable telephones and other portable devices.

Viewers will access AOLTV via a set-top decoder built by Philips Electronics and priced at around $250, AOL said. Viewers will be able to surf the Web using a portable keyboard and remote control, and switch from a television program to make online purchases.

The subscription to AOLTV will cost $14.95 a month for consumers who are already subscribing to AOL Online at $21.95 a month. Those who are not already AOL subscribers will pay a monthly subscription of $24.95 to access AOLTV

This widget will help you to store, organize, search, and manage your favorite online content through a range of social bookmarking services. These services permit users to save links to websites that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, but can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, or shared only inside certain networks. Authorized people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or through a search engine. Most social bookmarking services also permit their users to vote and rank public bookmarks to determine which are the best ones according to the number of votes they get.
