Islam Awareness Week 2004: Your Muslim Neighbour

By  Art & Culture Staff

This year’s Islam Awareness Week took place November 22–28 with lectures and activities all over Great Britain. The theme of the week was Your Muslim Neighbour, celebrating contributions by British Muslims to everyday British society.

Cooperation with the London Globe Theatre, the reconstructed Shakespearean theatre and museum, guaranteed an interesting cultural program in an inspiring setting with a strong emphasis on building cultural bridges.

In our coverage we chose to focus on the Globe location and the Shakespeare connection, considering the power of great artistic symbols as a cultural meeting point and a reservoir of multiple interpretations.

This widget will help you to store, organize, search, and manage your favorite online content through a range of social bookmarking services. These services permit users to save links to websites that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, but can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, or shared only inside certain networks. Authorized people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or through a search engine. Most social bookmarking services also permit their users to vote and rank public bookmarks to determine which are the best ones according to the number of votes they get.
