The Qur'an And the Bible In The Light Of Science

Those who thought that the voice of combating anti-Islamic propaganda, in the form of Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, had been silenced due to his physical ailment were in for a shock. What they didn't know was that, in a quiet corner of Mumbai, India, another Deedat was in the making. In fact, Sheikh Deedat himself has called him Deedat Plus.

At barely 35 years of age, Dr. Zakir Naik, a medical doctor by training, has lectured and debated at more than 300 events in the last three years alone. His convincing answers - derived from the Qur'an, Hadith, reason, science, and logic - and his ability to quote directly from the Bible, the Qur'an and the Vedas in Arabic, Sanskrit and Hebrew has enthralled audiences all over the world including in the U.K., U.S., UAE and across India.

Dr. Naik has successfully defended Islam and laid bare the claims of anti-Islamic forces coming from all fronts. In some instances, he has faced counterparts from not one, not two, but three different faiths on issues as diverse as "The Correct Concept of God" to "Women's rights in Islam."

In April 2000, Dr. Naik participated in an important debate in Chicago with Dr. William Campbell from Pennsylvania on the topic, The Qur'an and the Bible in the Light of Science. Dr. Campbell, a hardened missionary, has lived for many years and is reputed to be fluent in Arabic. He is the author of a book bearing the same title as the debate, which he claims to be a response to Dr. Maurice Bucaille's book The Bible, The Qur'an and Science. Dr. Naik accepted his challenge to debate on the topic, and they agreed to hold the debate publicly in Chicago.

Dr. Campbell spoke first for an hour on alleged incompatibilities in the Qur'an relating to embryology, hydrology, geology, zoology, etc. Dr. Naik then responded by first refuting his allegations and then proving the compatibilities of the Qur'an with the above and other scientific fields like astronomy, oceanology, medicine, embryology, etc. He also gave a list of 22 scientific errors in the Bible. In his rebuttal, Dr. Campbell could attempt to respond to only two of them, and those two, in a superficial manner. His replies were later refuted by Dr. Zakir.

Dr. Campbell only mentioned two scientific points in the Bible in his entire presentation including his rebuttal, both of which were later proved to be unscientific by Dr. Naik. Dr. Campbell was dumbfounded and repeatedly confessed that he had no answers to vital questions that were directed towards him by Dr. Naik.
