Will You Take the Swine Flu Vaccine?

By  Aisha El-Awady

Vaccine
Concerns over whether or not to take the swine flu vaccine continue as the first batches of 2009 H1N1 Influenza vaccinations arrive in the US and the UK. People all over the world are wondering if they should take the vaccine themselves or allow their children to become vaccinated.

Many have become skeptic and have lost faith in their governments and no longer know whether or not to believe the official assertions that the vaccine is safe. There are concerns about possible side effects and long term damage that could result from the vaccine. The side effects reported on the HPV vaccine and continued claims by anti-vaccination campaigners that MMR causes autism have lead to widespread fear about vaccines in general.

The mistrust also stems from a number of other reasons, including a general mistrust in governments, media outlets and drug manufacturers. At the same time fears of contracting the H1N1 virus have hit a high after President Obama declared the swine flu pandemic as a national emergency.

What is your take on this vaccine ambivalence regarding the H1N1 vaccine? Are you willing to take the vaccine when it becomes available in your country?
