Globalization of Sex Education

By  Family Editorial

It has been said that fundamental changes in civil liberty have been taking place since the war on terrorism after 9/11. These changes have challenged without resistance the very nature of how we go about our daily lives, and even the choices we make. The concept of ‘democracy’ and what it means to every man, woman, and child, has been going under an ominous change, not just in the Middle East, not just as a reaction to Muslims, but also as result of the nature of governance of all of us.  We are being told in no uncertain terms; that we all have to live our lives in a certain way, and that way is being dictated to by those who have lost the power to govern/advise others with wisdom and foresight. Is it with foresight that our children are being told how to perceive their own sexuality, or is it just another brick in the foundation of ethics and values being removed to make way for secular governance over the bodies of generations to come? Sex education is just one such method, and the societal impact may be felt for some time to come. On 27 August, the U.N. released International Guidelines on Sex Education. Albeit a voluntary guide, if the fact that a parent was arrested earlier this year for refusing to allow her child to join classes in Sex and Relationship Education classes (U.K.) is anything to go by, then this may be an indication of what is to come.

Sex and Relationship Education

In a UK teenage pregnancy hotspot in the U.K., the government has called for more school-based clinics to set up for the purpose of giving the contraceptive jab. Wigan is one of 21 hotspots. As Christmas 2008 approaches with the British Pregnancy Advisory Service offering free after-morning pills for the season, one can only assume that the underlying messages of "disrespect for life…

Parental Rights vs. UN Rights

The document "Africa Fit for Children" states:"Any customs, traditions, cultural or religious practices that contradict with children's rights should not be supported" The document even goes further to interfere in the religious practices if they are seen to contradict with children's rights; and here the judgment would be according to how children's rights are seen by the makers of such…
