The Muslim women community in Denmark comprises some honorable figures.

As the first step in our journey to discover the European Muslim women's opportunities and challenges that are hindering them from integrating into Europe's different communities, IslamOnline.net (IOL)'s European Muslims Page is quoting  Amneh Hawa on the status of Danish Muslim women.

Name: Amneh Hawa
Profession: Professor at Copenhagen University
Country: Denmark

In Denmark, there are actually a lot of representative women. They take part in the political, social, and scientific levels, but unfortunately, a few of them are highly contributing to the political scene, such as Asmaa Abd El-Hameed who is a Danish politician of Palestinian origin. However, the majority prefers to observe from afar.

Although many of the young Muslim women devote themselves to learning, they are not highly contributing to the social life and those who contribute are very limited in number.

Albeit the existence of a lot of practicing Muslim women who dedicate their efforts to carry out researches along with practicing Islam properly, “marriage” remains their main concern. Besides, the majority of the Muslim women in Denmark still count themselves as foreigners.

The Muslim women community in Denmark comprises some honorable figures, one of whom is a Palestinian Doctor who works on the obstetrics’ researches and appears usually on local TV programs tackling this issue. This Palestinian doctor works also as a physician in the Department of Women's Obstetrics and Gynecology of Copenhagen hospital.

Together with Maria, a well-known social scientist, she’s an active practicing Muslim woman, and similar to her, there are a lot of active Muslim practicing women in the Danish society, but they are still far from being political contributors.
