BAs Iran’s presidential election approaches, both internal and external factors fuel speculations about who would be Iran’s next president. Although hundreds of people have registered for the election set for June 12, only four presidential hopefuls (Mahmdoud Ahmadinejad, Mehdi Karroubi, Mirhossein Mousavi, and Mohsen Rezaei) are expected to acquire the approval of the Council of Guardians.

Under Ahmadinejad’s presidency, Iran has witnessed deteriorating economic conditions, and worsening relations with the West. As a result, the hard-line president has lost part of his popularity among his Conservative supporters. However, according to some observers, he has a good chance of being re-elected because of his ability to mobilize the masses and the backing of the Supreme Leader.

Do you think that Ahmadinejad would succeed in his bid for four more years in office?
