`Amr ibn Al-`Aas Mosque.

`Amr ibn Al-`Aas Mosque, the first mosque in Africa, was built under the patronage of `Amr ibn Al-`Aas, the great Arab military commander who is most noted for leading the Islamic conquest of Egypt in 19-20 AH (640-41 CE).

In 21 AH (642 CE), `Amr ibn Al-`Aas founded the city of Fustat, and there he built this mosque. Throughout history, the mosque has undergone
a series of modifications in its structure and architectural style.

Despite the fact that it has been ruined and restored many times, `Amr ibn Al-`Aas Mosque stands as one of the most important Islamic monuments in Egypt.
