Every now and then, questions arise about the relationship between the husband and wife in Islam. Surely, some questioners need to know more about how Islam governs this relationship. While, others only cast doubts the like of which are: Islam disrespects women; husbands are allowed to beat their wives; a Muslim wife has no rights concerning her financial means, and so on and so forth.
In Islam, the relationship between a husband and his wife is all about affection, respect, faithfulness, cooperation in being loyal to Allah, and contribution to the building of a wholesome society. Even in times of dispute, mutual understanding and fairness should be the dominant arbitrators.
In the Husband-Wife Relationship two-part series, a big number of relevant fatwas covering so many aspects of this relationship will be made accessible to our dear viewers and audience. In so doing, we in the Living Shari`ah department intend to present Muslims and non-Muslims alike something which may stir in them better understanding of its nature and manifestations from different angles. The first part reads as follows.
