Benazir Bhutto

By  IOL Staff

CAIRO - Two-time former premier and opposition leader Benazir Bhutto died on Thursday, December 27, after a massive election rally.

Bhutto, who returned in October after nine years in exile, was at odds with President Pervez Musharraf and was a declared enemy of local Taliban militants.

Her absence from the scene is expected to have huge political ramifications and leaves the future of general executions, scheduled for January 8, in the balance.
