Poverty in Africa – What You Can Do!

By  Selma A. Cook

Poverty in Africa, with all the horrors of children starving and parents looking on helplessly, is not new. We have all heard about it at some time or other and perhaps have shelved the idea of ever being able to help in a significant way. Perhaps it is because the problem seems so big.

And then we have summer time! Now that's supposed to be a time to relax and take a break from the stresses of life, isn't it? But summer is not fun or a time of relaxation for many people around the world. Now can't you divide your time? I mean, isn't it possible to spend some time for relaxation and having fun and then spend some time doing something for others?

It doesn't take that much to help children in Africa have a better life. Their life doesn't have to be a tragedy. It only takes a little bit of thought and a big heart to reach out and find a way to do something positive. There are already many organizations working and trying to help, so why not join hands with them? Why not gather some of your friends together and do a bit of fundraising in your own community and send the money to respected organizations that are already active?

If everyone does something, the situation can only get better. Don't ignore the hardships people face all over the world. Do your part in summer to make someone else's life a bit better.

How You Can Help

Make someone else's summer as happy as you'd like your own to be!
