The Future of Global Warming

The Future of Global Warming
Over 6,000 people from all over the world have gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the UN Climate Change Conference. As Nairobi 2006 comes to an end, everyone is eagerly waiting to hear what decisions were made inside the halls of the conference.

As part of IslamOnline.net's ongoing coverage of the most important climate change event of the year, we had a phone interview with Saleemul Haq from Kenya. Haq is head of the Climate Change Group in the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). He has been actively involved with the poorest regions of Africa and South Asia in research in adaptation to climate change.

IIED is a non-profit organization founded in London in 1971. It works globally through partnerships around the world to help vulnerable groups find their voice and ensure their interests are heard by decision-makers.

What is the future of the fragile Kyoto Protocol after it expires in 2012? What hopes do we stand of reversing climate change? Is it too late? Haq answers all this, and more, in the interview.
