Name: Mohamed El-Moctar El-Shinqiti
Born in 1966 in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania
Experience
1997-1998: Instructor of Tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis) and Arabic grammar at Al-Eman University (Sanaa, Yemen), and researcher at the Yemeni Center for Strategic Studies (Sanaa, Yemen)
1999-2001: Instructor of Islamic Principles and Arabic language at the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C., American Open University (Virginia), and the Islamic Center of Modesto (California).
2001- till now: Director of the Islamic Center of South Plains, Lubbock (Texas).
Education
1973-1983: Earned an Ijazah (Certificate) of memorization of the Holy Qur’an
1985-1989: Earned a Bachelors Degree in Islamic Jurisprudence.
1988-1994: Earned a Bachelors Degree in Translation (Arabic – French – English).
2003-…: continuing graduate studies in public administration at Columbia Southern University (Alabama, USA)
Books:
• “the Islamic Movement in Sudan: Introduction to a Strategic and Organizational thought” (published by Dar Al-Hikma, London 2002, and Dar Qurtubah, Algers 2004).
• “Political discords in Early Islam” (published by Al-Rayah Center (Damasacus, 2004) and Dar Qurtubah (Algers 2005), a Turikish translation of the book has been pulished recenlty by Chira Yayincilik publisher in Turky.
• “Political legitimacy in Islam: Revelation and History”
• “Prophetic Sunna on polical legitimacy and performance”
• “The Glory of being a Slave of Allah: comtemplation on Muhammad Iqbal’s Poetry”.

Activities
He writes about political thought, Islamic literature, Islamic Movements, dialogue between the Islamic World and the West, and American policies and politics. He published about a hundred analytical articles (mostly in Arabic, few in English) on Aljazeera channel website: (www.aljazeera.net), and many other articles on other websites.
Moreover, he presented papers at the conferences of the Foundation of Islamic Education, ISNA, MAS and other Muslim American organizations, and at several Islamic centers throughout the US. And he is a frequent guest of Islamonline.net website on issues of Fiqh of Muslim minorities.
Translation
• He translated several articles and studies from French into Arabic.
• Translated from English into Arabic a book entitled “training Translators and Conference Interpreters” by W.K. Weber.
