Sheikh Muhammad Nur Abdullah was born in Sudan and emigrated to the United States in 1978. He received his B.A. in Shari'ah from the Islamic University in Medina. He got his M.A. in Shari'ah from Ummal Qura University in Makkah. He completed further studies at the University of Chicago where he received an M.A. in Islamic Studies, and is now a Ph.D. candidate.
Sheikh Abdullah is past chairman of the ISNA Fiqh Council, and has been a member of the Fiqh Council of North America since 1982. He is currently the Imam and director for the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis. He is also the President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).
Sheikh Abdullah has authored several articles on family in Islam, marriage and divorce, and the concept of Shura in Islam. He also works as a marriage counselor.
Sheikh Muhammad Nur Abdullah now lives in St. Louis, Missouri.
