| Question |
Salam alaikum,
Is it allowed for muslims to support the west if they attack Afghanistan. And if not then what should be our response.
|
| Answer |
If Muslims are attacked in Afghanistan, Muslims all over the world should be supportive to against what is unjust, unfair, offensive and unlawful. We think targeting Afghanistan, as a country is not a righteous or just action. If the United States targets any persons or groups who are indicted of a crime of terrorism or an organized crime, they have the legitimacy to be restricted in their action to that limitation. Attacking Afghanistan as a whole, Islamically is an action that will provoke every Muslim in the world. Afghanistan was supported by the United States against Soviet Union because the Afghani people were defending their entity, dignity, faith, and freedom. What change in the Afghani people to be attacked by the country who were helping them against the Soviets whereas the Afghan will fight for the same objectives?

| Question |
salamu-alaykum
1) are those who did attacks on NY and Wash. and the people who celebrated or applauded but nothing to do with it, are same or not?
|
| Answer |
When we talk of anything according to the Islamic law we should be very canonical and specific in our language. The people who attacked the WTC and Pentagon and hijacked the forth plane that crashed in Pennsylvania are criminal who deserve the severest punishment as the Quran elaborates. They are murderers and terrorists. If there were any person who felt happy for that incident we would not be able to equate them with those criminals, but we can say no one with faith and ethics would accept anything of that murder and targeting of innocent people.

| Question |
Asalaamu alaikum,
What is the majority/unanimous opinion of the ulama and scholars of the Islamic world on the recent attacks in the United States? Do any religious decrees (fatwah) exist, from both ancient and modern scholars, which denounces or supports such attacks in manner and method? Finally, the hadith which states that action is judged by intention -- does that apply to the attacks?
|
| Answer |
What we have in our access and knowledge is that Muslim scholars unanimously condemned these actions and explained that it was against Shari’ah law and can have no justification for it. I also refer you to Dr Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s and Azhar Mufti’s fatwas on the front page of IslamOnline.

| Question |
Bismillah and salam,
Why haven't religious scholars taken a strong stance yet? Why isn't there a fatwa issued by each one in every muslim country to condemn the attacks but demands from the governments to defend Afghanistan since the war against terrorism should be against the people who did it not countries?
Why hasn't anyone defended Bin Laden and asked for solid evidence or they will help Afghanistan instead of let the US use the basis in the gulf?
These questions are puzzling me. Why aren't muslims uniting to fight terrorism and for a just world for ALL?
|
| Answer |
We believe that Muslim scholars who are in position to give fatwas and who are well known in Muslim countries will state their opinion on any action. Many already have issued decrees. But, it is still too early for them to give any opinions as to what Muslims should or should not do regarding the situation of Afghanistan.

| Question |
Could a muslim that is living in the USA extend his/her pledge and patriotism to the country by carrying a US flag or wearing a flag pin...etc?
|
| Answer |
A flag of a country is not a religious aspect especially when you talk of patriotism. It could be interpreted as your concern and attachment to your home, family and life. Nothing of that is a matter of ‘Ibadah, or deen (religion or faith). It is cultural. I don’t see anything wrong Islamically with having the American flag or any flag to be stationed or raised anywhere in your car, house, etc.

| Question |
Dear sheik,
What's your opinion about making hijrah?
|
| Answer |
Al-Hijrah originally refers to the status of the Prophet (SAAS) and his companions when they immigrated from Mecca to Al-Medinah because of oppression and persecution. That hijrah ended with the conquest of Mecca as the Prophet (SAAS) said: “There is no hijrah after the conquest of Mecca (but there is jihad and intention of jihad).” The other meaning of hijrah, which is updated for our circumstances, is to move from a place where you can’t practice your deen freely to a place where you will be more able practice your deen freely. Al Mawardi, the well-known scholar, says wherever a Muslim can practice his faith is considered Dar Islam. In many instances we have Muslims who fled oppression or restrictions for practicing Islam. They went to Europe, the United States, and other places where they could live in an open and free atmosphere or environment condusive to practicing and propagating Islam. A third meaning of hijrah as the hadith says: “Is to desert anything that is unlawful or that should not be done.”

| Question |
We are starting to know of evidence prooving that muslims did not do the attacks on the WTC. How should we alert the public when we are discussing the issue in forums. Should we just say we are sorry it happend, or should we say, it wasnt a muslim, it was a setup to frame the muslims.
|
| Answer |
When we answer the question of what happened on September 11th, we are not judging any person, we are just explaining what Islamic law stipulates for a person or people who may have committed such a crime. We don’t mention the actors because the information is still not known.

| Question |
Peace Be With You.
My question is this who do you believe in your heart of hearts was behind the attack on the WTC? I have just started reading Qur'an and I know if it was
a terroist who happens to profess Islam they are not following the teaching of Muhammad or Allah. I know in my own religion there have be "terroist" through out the ages from the Crusades on. We all are brothers and sisters, sharing in stewardship this place we call Earth, may we all pray for peace.
|
| Answer |
Anyone who gets involved in such an activity cannot be committed to the teachings of Islam like those people who are involved in drug, liquor, or corruption and they bear Muslim name whereas what they are involved in is not Islam, but anti-Islam.

If she is in need of going out that she cannot do without, then she is allowed to uncover her head as much as needed to prevent harm because Shari’ah gives exceptionality due to dire necessity.
