Question
a woman acted on her husband's indirect pronouncement of divorce observing a three month cycle of iddah, after which she had sexual relations with another man. the husband now came back denying the divorce he pronounced and was made to issue another one to her amidts witnesses. question is- does the second divorce stand valid since what she did could be termed as adultery and without his knowledge?. she is now happily remarried and a good and repentant muslim. is her new marriage valid and can she gain jannah thru it? and lastly is the sin of adultery between her and God and not the husband and can she seek forgivness for it? she is grossly worried!
salam,
tani

Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
First of all, the indirect pronouncement of divorce does not count as divorce since it is only the husband that decides if he means divorce or not. Therefore, the first marriage is invalid. She has to repent sincerely for Allah’s sake, do a lot of charity to seek forgiveness for adultery, and do a lot of good deeds to obliterate that grave sin.
If she was divorced by her first husband, she is free to marry after expiry of ’iddahcounted after the pronouncement of the valid divorce.
She does not need to seek forgiveness for adultery from the first husband; if is of no use. This is something between her and Allah and she should focus on her new life.

Question
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I have been having this problem since last December in school where i am unable to talk to people and make a conversation. Whenever I speak to them I feel as if I'm not being myself and reacting weirdly to what they say. I always feel left out in groups because I can not involve myself in them or talk. I have become a really quiet person but within I know that I need to talk and open myself up as I feel so bored during lessons. I don't know if it's because of psychotic depression as I have been diagnosed with this (I am 16) and the psychiatrist said that I will get all this back once I become OK. But everything was OK, before December, although I stopped praying at this time but never had a problem where I thought people were judging me, felt scared of them, never made sense, felt unconfident or vulnerable. I just want to know as to why Allah is doing this me? Did I do something wrong or is it because of myself?

Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
I ask Allah to make things easy for you and to help you overcome your current problems.
I strongly advise you to strengthen your relationship with Allah by drawing near to Him and doing lots of righteous deeds. That will help you grow in spirituality, which will positively affect your psychology. You should recite the last two chapters of the Qur’an frequently. You should also develop a habit of reading the morning and evening adhkar.
On a different note, you need to have good company of righteous girls that you trust. You need to open up to them and stick around them so you don’t feel lonely. The best advice is to think together of doing something positive, like volunteering, going to the mosque, attending useful lectures and sermons, etc.
I hope this will help insha’Allah

Thanks for the good work you are doing. May Allah reward you abundantly. My question is; I do not arabic very well although i can recite the last juz of the quran fairly well. Can my listening to Quran casette be taken as having recited...also reading quran translation
|
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
I ask Allah to reward you according to your sincere intentions.
If you listen to the Qur’an and follow the recitation in the book, you will be insha’Allahrewarded as if you read.
As for the translation, you will get the reward of learning the meanings and interpretation of the Qur’an, and not for reading the Qur’an because the translation is not considered to be Qur’an, rather it is an interpretation of the Qur’an.

Question
Dear respected scholar, is getting slightly excited by things that are not excited at all a mental disorder? Does it invalidate the wudu even tho there is no discharge? shd I ignore these feelings and pray to Allah that I will become normal again bc I am afraid its becoming some sort of Obsessive compulsive disorder. Also is chronic white/yellowish discharge that all females get require one to renew her wudu? Thank you dear scholar

Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
As for getting excited without getting any discharge, it does not invalidate the wudu’. With regard to the yellowish discharge, it requires wudu’ just as madhidoes. If it is a chronic issue, then you will need just to renew wudu’ for each prayer and ignore it even if happens during prayer.

Question
Assalamu alaikum,
I am having difficulty in feeling compassion and love in my heart to the extent I want and need to for everything that's happening in the world especially to the Muslims and I always feel unclear and bad thinking and despair. How can so much injustice and pain happen and I can't do anything not even to the extent of improving myself much less feel and think clearly? What can I do to help this because this is something which really bothers me and something I need to improve? It is probably something with which other people also struggle with at different levels but your advice would be helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
I commend you for your feelings. This feeling reflects a sign of faith that I ask Allah to strengthen for you. However, feeling helpless is not part of faith, as Islam teaches us not to give up or feel desperate, because even if it appears before us that all gates are closed, we still confidently believe that Allah’s power is matchless. That is why we, in case of being unable to offer any materialistic help to the suffering and the less privileged, we are advised to stretch our hands to heavens and beg of Allah the Almighty.
Therefore, I advise you to make du’a’and to fervently make it each time you feel weak or helpless.
Allah Almighty knows best.

Question
Assalamualaikum respected scholar.
1)should I give preference to pray my past salah that I have missed (Qadha) or sunnah prayers. Ideally it would be both, but I sometimes I find it hard as I have a lot of Qadha unfortunately. Which is the priority?
2) I am currently in an overdraft with my bank, so I am in a position where I am in debt. It is an interest-free overdraft and I can extend it so theres no haraam. But I really want to pay some money to charity, I get fustrated because I am missing out on the blessings in this Holy month. What is the ruling here, is it better for me to focus on paying back the money, or can I spend on charity aswell (which may take me slightly more in debt for the short term) I am worried that if something should happen, I may pass in a state of being in debt.
3) In light of the above please advise what deeds I can do to gain reward and mercy if I cannot give charity.

Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
1. Of course you should make precedence to obligatory prayers and not sunnah. By the time you are done making up for the obligatory prayers, you may increase your sunnah.
2. You are supposed to focus on paying back your debt, and in the meantime give a small portion of charity. Your debt should not prevent you from donating especially in times of distress, pressing needs, and disasters.
3. The Prophet, peace be upon him, didn’t limit charity to financial donation; he expanded it to include other kinds of help. I advise you to read the following hadith and try to apply some of the acts of charity mentioned in it. The Prophet said, “ There is charity incumbent upon every bone of a human being on every day that the sun rises. To judge fairly between two people is charity. To help someone with his mount is charity. A good word is charity. Every step on the way to prayer is charity. Removal of what is harmful from the road is charity.”

Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
As for your first question, it is true that whatever the wife makes is considered her income. Allah Almighty says: ”To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask God of His bounty. For God has full knowledge of all things.” (An-Nisa’:32)
It is also reported that the wife of Abdullah Ibn Masu’ood, may Allah be pleased with him, used to work and earn a living. One day she asked the Prophet, peace be upon him, if she could donate her money to her poor husband, to which the Prophet, peace be upon him, replied, “Yes, and you will be rewarded twice.”
Having said that, given the difficult financial circumstances that people face nowadays, it is advised that the wife contributes to the family by sharing some of the family expenses. Some scholars consider this as a compensation for the time the mother takes away from the family.
As for your second request, I pray to Allah to grant you success, and to make exam easy.
Regarding the last question, according to Hanafi School, you should give zakat, but it is not required according to other schools. I advise you to make your own judgment based on the quantity of jewelry you have. If you think a normal amount of jewelry that any of your friends has, then you don’t pay zakah. But if you think, based on the custom of your place, you have a higher amount of jewelry, then it might be advised to follow the Hanafi School and give zakah.
