Question Assalam Alaikum, The question is regarding my wife. InshaAllah I will be leaving for Hajj in the next few days. I am pregnant in my second trimester and have started bleeding that lasted 4-5 days. Per my OB/GYN, there is no need for concern and the bleeding normal and is due to the left over blood and will go away in few days. Now I don?t have red blood but seeing brown spotting almost every day. My question is what precaution do I need to take during Hajj? What are the rituals that I can/cannot do while in Ihram? Can I perform Salat, Tawaf, Sai etc.? Do I have to change pads and perform wudu before every Salat? I am hoping this will stop since the Hajj is still 3 weeks away. JazakAllah Khairun.
Answer Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

What is over or extra to your regular period, is not considered within your monthly cycle; therefore if it is continued, you need only to make a fresh wudu' for every prayer and you can do everything including the tawaf and sa'y, and you will be completing your hajj this way. Your case is under the category of mustahadah, and therefore it is treated differently from regular menstruation.

Question Assalamou Alykoum Dear Scholars, I?m a 34 year old woman and not married yet. The issue of marriage is becoming really confusing to me and I need your advise. I believe that marriage is a Karadar (predestined) either the person will get married or not, to whom will he/she be married to and when. However, my mom tells me that I have to show up in all social events so that guys see me and I have to live in an arabic country because there is higher chances of finding guys there and someone might introduce me to a guy. What should I do? Should I wait and see what Allah has decreed for me living in any part of the world or go to an arabic country and attend social gatherings so that people see me and introduce me to someone? Jazakoum Allah Khayran
Answer Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Marriage is part of the qadar, but we don't know what has been already written for us. Our duty, therefore, is to do our job by taking all the means possible and within our capacity. All means available in terms of seeking marriage in the lawful way must be exhausted first before saying this is qadar or not. There is a saying, "when there is a desire, there is an effort required." This applies to your case: you are supposed to take all means available to find your partner.

I don't think it is a good idea to go to another country especially if you’re are not sure. You need to make du'a' that Allah make everything easy for you. Secondly you need to talk to your close friends and relatives so that they can recommend you to some good people. In all cases, you need to apply the advice of the Prophet, peace be upon him: whenever a person you're satisfied with his character and faith approaches you for marriage, accept him.

Question Assalamu Alekum Wa Rahmat ullallah

Dear Scholar. Can you please tell me if one has so many problems in life, and he does sabr, will Allah rewards him in this world too, in the form of giving him happiness and peace of mind? I know we will all be rewarded in the Aakhirah, as promised by Allah subhanahu wa taa'la
Answer Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Part of the reward of Allah is promised in this life. The hadith states that when someone makes du'a' Allah accepts it surely in one of three ways: either by granting him what he supplicated for, or giving him better than what he asked for, or holding it till the Day of Judgment. Allah also says: "We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall you have all that your souls shall desire; therein shall you have all that you ask for!” (Fussilat: 31)

Having said this, part of the faith in qadar is to accept Allah’s decisions and decrees at all times and under any circumstances. The believer appreciates Allah for every blessing and is patient with every difficult time in his life.

Question If I am going for hajj and will be slaughtering hady, do I still need to do udhiyah on eid? Can I do both?
Answer In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

If you are planning to do hajj qiran or tamatu’, then you are required to offer a sacrifice, or hady. But you are not required to offer the udhiyah on ‘Eid. If you want to do both, there is no restriction.

Question Someone told me that since I will be in Makkah for the period of hajj I will be considered like a resident of it, and therefore if I need to do another umrah, I don't have to go out to tan'eem. Is this true?
Answer In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

That is not true. The resident will do ihram for hajj for his place. But even a resident of Makkah, if he or she wants to make ’umrah he will have to do to tan’eem to do an ihram for ’umrah.

Question Can you stay in the bus in muzdalifah or do you have to sleep on the floor? Some ladies are old and really find it difficult.
Answer In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

There is no harm on doing that; as long as you are in Muzdalifah for the night, then you have fulfilled the duty. The reason they don’t arrange for tents and the like is that it is a short stay, but if you were to arrange for something like that, there is no problem.

Question Please tell me the trustworthiness of such narration in the light of Quran and Hadith. Indian Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act prescribe following conditions in which abortion can be performed legally- 1. Medical-incluses condition that may endanger mother?s life or may cause grave injury to her 2. Eugenic-includes condition that may result in serious mental or physical abnormality in child 3. Humanitarian-when pregnancy is result of rape 4. Socio-economic-poor social or economical condition that may lead to injury to mother?s health. 5. When pregnancy is result of failure of method of contraception. Yet another condition which we face is ?abortion on demand?, like couple have completed their family (in India , >2 children will result loss of Government job), forgotten to take proper precautions etc. Please tell me in which condition we (Muslim doctors) are allowed to perform MTP.
Answer In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Abortion is only allowed in case of protecting a mother’s life or terminating a confirmed serious health problem for an embryo. It is not allowed in case of fear for poverty, for Allah says in the Qur’an: ”Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin.” (Al-Israa: 31)

Question Is it Ok for someone going for hajj to conclude a bussiness deal in the same trip?
Answer In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

As long as you are not distracted from fulfilling the obligation, then you are free to conclude your business deals without any feeling of violating the sanctity of Hajj. Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an: "That they may witness the benefits (provided) for them, and celebrate the name of Allah, through the Days appointed, over the cattle which He has provided for them (for sacrifice): then eat ye thereof and feed the distressed ones in want.” (Al-Hajj: 28)

Question Can I fast the days of Dhulhijjah during hajj? Do I get a double reward? What about Day of Arafa?
Answer In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

You can fast the days of Dhulhijjah except the Day of ‘Arafah. If you do fast those days, you will of course get greater reward for doing such good deeds in Makkah. May Allah bless you and accept your good deeds.
