| Question |
Al-salam alaikum w rahmatu Allah w barakatuh. I'd like to ask... If I am bothered by somebody's actions, and spoke of what they did without calling them names or mentioning their name, is it still considered backbiting?! Thank you and Allah yejzak kheer.
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Raising concerns, complaining and seeking judgment regarding a certain form of injustice a person might have suffered, does not fall under the category of backbiting. Also speaking of a certain problem some people do is also allowed as long as it is done without disclosing people’s identities. The Prophet, peace be upon him, whenever he saw something wrong done by some people, used to say: “some people do such and such...” Therefore, what you have described in your question is similar to these two cases, and hence it is not backbiting. However, it is advised that when someone is annoyed by certain people’s actions that he or she confronts them and speak in their faces so that they understand what mistake they are doing.

| Question |
I m traveling to Pakistan from UK by airplane via Qatar, Doha. Do I have to fast on that day or I have to make it up after Ramadan?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
It is equally right to either fast or break your fast while traveling. A traveler is permitted to break his fast if he or she is able to fast. If fasting involves a lot of hardship and the person will be undergoing intolerable amount of pain, then he or she is not supposed to fast while traveling.

| Question |
Assalamu Alaikum! My husband and I are trying for a baby for the last few months. Can we continue with it during Ramadan?
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Yes, of course you can continue doing so as long as intimacy occurs between iftar and fajr. We are required to fast, abstain from sexual desires until the time of iftar. After iftar through the fajr time, a Muslim can eat, drink and have intimate relations normally.

| Question |
A lot of women keep talking during the short talk between taraweeh. I keep telling them but they don't listen. What is the best way to get them to listen and get the real significance of the fast?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Jazakum Allahu khairan for your concern. It is very important to educate people on the importance of Ramadan and the spirit of ibadah. You should cooperate with the mosque administration and try to put some guidelines for people to follow, exchange advice in a gentle way and try to keep good relations with people so that they could listen to you. You should also avoid judging people because they might not talk about something haram, it is just the noise that they make that should be avoided.

| Question |
Asalamualaykom
1. Does mathi (excitement, NOT orgasm) break one's fasting?
2. Is it permissible for me to wipe on nylon socks for wudu, or are thick socks better?
3. I have been having a problem with wet dreams and for a while, and have not yet found a solution. I am an unmarried teenager who's a girl. If I put on a panty liner before I go to bed and wake up in the morning and see it, I do not see anything. If I touch it, it feels wet. What is this?
4.I get a lot of pure vaginal discharge (that only breaks wudu) during the day, can I consider any wetness I get at night pure vaginal discharge?
5. My mother told me that when she was young, if she woke up and found wetness, she considered it pure vaginal discharge. Can I do the same?
6. For a women, how exactly do I know if I had a wet dream? Women don't get wet dreams as often as men yet I still perform gusl almost every day. If I don't I feel as though I am not pure and sinning.
7. How often can women get a wet dream?
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
It seems to me that you need to educate yourself on how to distinguish between different types of secretions and the rulers of tahara associated with each one. Mathi does not break the fast; it just requires wudu’. Pure vaginal discharges that cause wetness are also pure and do not invalidate the wudu’. Wet dreams following a sexual dream and resulting in orgasm requires a complete ghusl.

Can I use my athma enhaler while fasting?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Scholars differ as regards the use of asthma inhaler. According to the standing fatwa committee in Makkah, it is allowed as it falls under the case of necessity, and therefore it does not break the fast.

| Question |
How can I introduce Ramadan to my non-Muslim neighbour?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
This is a very important question. Muslims should positively reach out to their non-Muslims friends and neighbours. They should share their good values and culture. In Ramadan, you can simply start by presenting some dates to your neighbour and explain the significance of using them in Ramadan. When they ask, you can explain more about what Ramadan means to Muslims. If you have good relations with your neighbour, you invite them to join iftar with you, and then you can share many thoughts about Ramadan. You should be careful about some people who might think that you are trying to proselytize or convert them, in which case you take chance to get to know each other and develop better understanding.
