| Question |
I have read several Hadith in which the Prophet (SAW) encourages and commands women to attend Eid Salah. In my country some people are saying it is forbidden for women to attend Eid Salah due to the potential for Fitnah. I think that it is such a special time and can't understand why going with your husband and family, dressed appropriately and praying behind the men without mingling is a problem. Also, how a Hadith can be overturned?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
You are right in insisting that women should be encouraged to attend the Eid gathering. That is the sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him. It is therefore important that Muslim women assert their rights to do so. I urge those who deny them their rights to fear Allah and submit to the judgment of Allah's Messenger. No one can claim to be more pious than the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be Allah's blessings and peace.

Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Yes; you ought to give zakah on the saved amount when a full year passes on it. Zakah should be taken out then at the rate of 2.5 percent.

I would like to know any dua to cure cancer or any herbs used in Prophet saw time for cancer or recommended by Him saw. thanks
|
| Answer |
Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
I do not know of any herbs recommended by the Prophet, peace be upon him in this case. However, he did say that black seed is a cure for all ailments. You should use it, while praying to Allah for cure: You may use the following du'as found in the well attested traditions:
As'alu Allaaha al-adheem rabba al-'arshi al-adheem an yashfiyanee
(I beseech Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne to cure me)
Allaahumma rabba al-nnaas adhhibi al-ba'asa ishfi anta al-shshaafi laa shifaa'a illaa shifaa'uka shifaa'an laa yughaadiru saqaman
(O Allah, the Lord of the worlds, send down cure; You alone are the healer/curer; so send down complete cure leaving no trace of illness).
Also use the prayer of Prophet Ayyoob, peace be upon him, as follows:
Rabbi innee massaneeya al-durru wa anta arhamu al-rraahimeen
(My Lord, i am stricken with affliction; You are the most Merciful of those who show mercy; so have mercy on me).
May Allah grant you cure and healing - ameen.

what is the fedya for breaking fast on medical ground?
also can one break her/his fast due stomache tumors which cause sever discomfort pain ocausionally?
|
| Answer |
Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Fidyah for breaking fast because of incurable sickness is to feed a poor person in lieu of every single day of fast one has missed. However, if a person expects to recover then fidyah is not due; rather he or she should make up the fasts they have missed.
In Canada, the amount of fidyah is estimated to be seven Canadian dollars. A person suffering from stomach tumor and hence feeling discomfort while fasting is definitely eligible to break.

who you can pay to zakat or fedya?
i have relative overseas which tell me that they are very poor and ask me for to send them my zakat and fedya. is this enough or should inquire about them. they might have food but not clothes?
|
| Answer |
Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
You can definitely pay your zakah to your poor relatives who have no clothes but have food. As for the fidyah, it is best that you give it to those who are starving and don't have enough to eat. If someone says that he or she is poor, you can definitely give him your zakah, unless you have valid grounds to suspect otherwise; we are not to suspect people unnecessarily; rather we should consider them innocent until proven otherwise.

i intended to do as much good deeds as i can and so far i did well apart from one lie i told my doctor to obtain medical notes. i have medical reason but i don't know why i told a different thing other than my illness. i think my good deeds are wiped put by it. i'm so worried and pray alot and will not take the money although i need it.
so plz tell me beside repenting which i do after every prayer what else should i do? what is the punishment for a lier? and what if you can't tell the truth because they think all my problem is lie?
|
| Answer |
Wa'alykum Assalamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
If you have told a lie you need to repent and make amends for it. Sincere repentance entails the following: Feeling deep remorse for the sin you have committed; refraining from it altogether; resolving never to do it again; finally, doing whatever good deeds you can do to wipe it out. I urge you also to offer the following du'a as often as you can:
Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun kareemun tuhibbu al-'afwa fa'fu 'annee
(O Allah, You are Forgiving and Gracious; You love to forgive; so forgive me).

| Question |
Q1.For a woman, if she feels pleasure in her private parts in her sleep, is this orgasm/wet dream?
Q2. If a woman wakes up an on her pantliner she sees nothing but feels discharge, is this wet dream?
Q3. For regular zakat, NOT zkat al fitr, how huch is the nisab?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
1. If a woman experiences intense pleasure followed by wetness, then it is a wet dream; but if there is no such wetness, then it is not treated as such; in the former case she should take a full bath while in the second case, she only needs to wash her private parts and renew her wudu'.
2. If she sees nothing but feels only the ordinary discharge, in that case she only needs to wash her private parts and renew wudu';
3. It is my humble opinion that for regular zakah, nisab should be approximately four hundred Canadian dollars (based on the silver standard), since gold standard is so volatile. So if you have in your possession this amount saved, you ought to take out zakah on it at the rate of 2.5 percent at the end of the year.

Assalaamalaikum Sheikh
Can I pay Zakat ul Fitr here in USA as I live here but home is India?
I already paid here in USA. Whats the ruling?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Zakatul fitr is to be paid primarily where one resides; so if you live in the USA it is best to pay it there; unless you find there are no poor people to receive it there; in which case definitely it can be sent overseas where there are more deserving people.

| Question |
Im ot sure if the questions got through to you last time ( as didnt see the confirmation) so here they are once more:
--------------------
Assalamu Alaikum Sheikh
I have a few questions which I have collected from my family and have been waiting since last week to ask you.
1) If one has a loan which has the condition that it will be forgiven at either death, a particular age or elapsing of particular time period, then does this need to be included when making zakat calculation? (i.e the loan will not have a claim on the person's legacy after death as it will be forgiven by the lender)
2. Is it ok to donate zakat to charity projects where benefit is not clearly attributed to one person? Reason why I ask is because I was led to believe that zakat is meant to go directly to someone to empower them directly so that the benefits of zakat are directly felt by the less fortunate.
3. Can I calculate my zakat at end of a lunar year and then keep that money and then distribute later during following lunar year?
Eagerly await your answers sheikh
Wasslamu alaikum
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
1. As for the amount someone owes you, you need to take out zakah on it only when you receive it back. In such a case, it is best to give zakah for one year, even though it may have stayed with the person more than a year. This is the view of Imam Malik; and i concur with it.
2. Although major part of zakah should be given to the poor and needy, a portion of it can be given to charity projects, even though its benefits are enjoyed generally by all. This is because of the fact that one of the categories of recipients of zakah is fee sabeeli Allah; it is understood paying to this category benefits all and not just the poor. However, fee sabeeli Allah cannot be loosely interpreted; priority must always be given to the poor and needy while giving zakah; however, where their needs are met, then zakah can be relocated to other categories such as fee sabeeli Allah.
3. The zakah that is due on you at the end of the year should be given out
promptly. One must never keep it for distribution later. Zakah is due at the end of the year, as long it has remained in your possession one full year.
Allah Almighty knows best.
