| Question |
I married a Christian woman from Poland three years ago and I have a five-month-old daughter with her. We have a flat in London, but we currently live in Dubai for work reasons. This woman is the best person I have ever met. She respects me, my religion, and everything in me. I have no complaint about her. I did not marry her for material interest, it was pure love, and I believe that she is a gift for me.
I always believed that marrying a Christian woman is not a problem from the Islamic point of view, but recently, when I visited Morocco, I was told that it is not a problem as long as she does not believe that Jesus (peace and blessings be upon him) is the son of God, or that Jesus is God. If she does, she is a mushrikah (one who associates partners with Allah) and I am not allowed to be married to her.
Please advise. Please help. Please let me know what to do! Please reply to my e-mail.
Thank you and best regards.

| Question |
As-Salamu `alaykum.
With the approach of the great occasion of Al-Israa’ and Al-Mi`raj, how can Muslims—all over the world—serve the Palestinian issue?
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you for your kind question.
Surely al-Israa’ and Mi'raj is a great and memorable occasion for all Muslims around the globe. It is also an occasion to remind them about the duty and obligation towards beloved brothers and sisters in Palestine.
Moreover, they shall increase their assistances at all levels to those fellow Palestinians who have been living for decades under unjust oppression and
occupation to their lands. I am worried to say that all Muslims would be sinful by keeping watching the atrocities and humiliations that Palestinians have be subject to.
Certainly, there is a dare need to try all possible means and methods that will put a quick end to barbaric and inhumane treatments to the Palestinians in their home land by the Zionists. At least, this occasion should be celebrated by renewing calls to all fellow Muslims to fear Allah in Palestinians. The suffering is increasing and humiliation has no end.
As for Al-Aqsa, this occasion should remind all Muslims about the obligation towards liberating this beloved Mosque. let us pray for the best and let us hope to be allowed to pray in this Mosque which is considered as the third sacred mosque in Islam. God knows best.

| Question |
How a Muslim woman—who lives outside Palestine—can help the oppressed Palestinians?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you. Every body should do his or her level of best in this just and very fair cause. Through donations and participation in exhibitions and speaking up their causes in all possible forms and seminars. Surely, it is not only an Islamic issue but it is also a human issue. The oppression doesn't differentiate between religions, it is against all religions, Muslims as well as the Christians too.
As a Muslim woman do try your best by sponsoring the education or donating to the agencies which are taking care of Palestinians. Do pray for them in all your prayers. Do find ways and means leading to put an end to this oppression and torture. Do member Palestinian kids and women in all your activities and do whatever you can. May Allah reward and grant you strength and will towards this just and fair cause. God knows better.

| Question |
Dear Dr. Sano,
Really, I love your for the sake of Allah.
I want to ask what is the role of the Muslim scholars in serving and defending the Palestinian case?
Jaz
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you. Certainly, Muslim scholars have moral and intellectual duties and obligations towards this fair and human cause. They shall highlight at all levels the evil humiliations and treatments which have been going on against Palestinian for decades. They have to voice and disapprove this atrocities and they shall educate all Muslims about the necessity of sharing the feelings of Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Surely, they have to undertake scholarly academic works which demonstrate to the whole world the terrible and inhuman treatment against helpless Palestinians. The classrooms, conferences, forms and seminars have to be used to highlight and update younger generation about these atrocities and humiliations. All Muslim scholars have been sincere with this issue. They shouldn't have any fear or hesitation in delivering and elaborating on this fair and just cause to the masses.
Furthermore, they should take part intellectually in finding ways and means leading to counter the oppressors. Yet, Muslim scholars have to come up with tangible ideas and practical opinions that are needed in ending the occupation of Palestinian lands. There is no doubt that the scholars are seen in all communities as references to the masses, therefore they have to play their vital role in putting a quick end to the evil oppression. As the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated that whoever does not pay attention to or preoccupy by Muslims' issue he or she is not among them.
May Allah grant our scholars courage and strength to defend this cause at their level of best. God knows better.

| Question |
As-Salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullah
Dear scholar of Islam,
Could you please explain the things happening between Israel and Palestine in the light of Hadith? Who will be the winner and when (expected)? May Allah grant victory of our Palestinian brothers over the enemies of Allah.
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you. For sure what is happening now has its very long history and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did predict it. He did say that this occupation is one of the signs of the closeness of the end of the world. He clearly mentioned in that Hadith that Jews (Zionists today) will commit all types of atrocities and oppression against believers. But a time will come when the Muslims will take over and excise the same killing that has been going against them. Muslims’ victory is confirmed and the stones as well as the trees will all be in the side of the Muslims except a tree called Gharghad.
In the light of this Hadith, we should not be surprised about what is happening. On the same time, Muslims have duty and obligation to do all the best to counter and defend themselves against this atrocities and oppression. Muslims should not wait for miracles to happen rather than to work hands in hands in order to defend their lands, lives and honors. Muslims won't be successful if they don't repent to Allah and fear Him in all their deeds and sayings. Our Palestinians have to work together and avoid any division or petty quarrels among themselves. They have to think about the interest and welfare of all Palestinians. They have to do their level of best and never ever give up their rights upon their lands, honors, properties, and, of course their dear lives. May Allah fasten the victory of beloved Palestinian brothers and sisters upon the oppressors.
Allah Almighty knows best.

| Question |
Dear Sheikh,
Al-Mi`raj took place from Al-Qasa mosque. Do you see any significance in this that we—Muslims—should realize?
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you. As I said earlier there are so many meanings and significances in Israa as well as in Mir'aj such as the unity among the Abrahamic faith and brotherhood among the messengers of Allah. As the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described his relationship with other prophets as a wall which was needed to complete the beauty of a nice building. He did also mention that he and Prophet Mosa are brothers.
In this regard, the Mir'aj was an occasion that Prophet met other Prophets during his journey to meeting Allah. Furthermore, we should learn from this occasion the strong relationship between the holy mosques, I mean the two holy mosques and Al-Aqsa.
All in all, there are so many significances in this miraculous journey and let us take as an occasion to think about our Palestinian brothers and sisters who are living for decades under occupation and oppression.

| Question |
As-Salamu `alaykum.
My question is simply whether the prolonged crisis between Israel and the Palestinians are justified? Although the Palestinians have the right to reclaim their lands, the escalating violence will only breed endless strife, not least because in no way they can counter the US-backed Israel militarily. Would it not be better if they focus instead on the consolidation of their strength with their neighboring Muslim countries? Their strength should be built on the basis unity not aggressive confrontation. Half a century ago the Jews were persecuted by the Europeans but now they are "ruling the world by proxy". This is attained not by bloodshed but purely intellectual means. Is there a possibility for the Palestinian issue to be resolved without anymore bloodshed? Thank you, jazzakallahu khairan.

| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you very much and I shall confirm to you that I do share similar feeling your kind self has. The Palestinians and Muslims all over the world have to find ways and means of putting a quick end to the oppression.
Certainly, our fellow Palestinians should try all possible means and strategies. They should further learn from history and other nations who were oppressed and occupied. This is not thing wrong in reviewing means and tools leading to the end of the oppression. The ultimate goal is to achieve the liberation of their land and property and to be allowed to live in peace and security. To achieve this noble and just aim, they have to find means and ways which will help them. Certainly, the violation is not a solution nor bloodshed is!
Having said this, Islam stands that the Palestinian as oppressed people have full right to defend themselves and protect themselves in all possible and available manners. For sure, the peaceful means are the most appreciated ways unless if they are proven to be inefficient and practical.
All in all, the bloodshed should be stopped from both parties especially against innocent from children and elderly people. Islam forbids killing kids, women, old peoples. It does also forbid destruction of trees, houses and properties. Islam calls for peace and justice. Let us pray all for quick end to the oppression and humiliation.
Allah Almighty knows best.

| Question |
Salam `alaykom,
I've a question about the controversial stance of Islam on the issue of suicide bombings. I know that the scholars who are related to this website permit suicide bombings in certain cases (especially in Palestine).
However the religious tradition claims the following: “Indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the Fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever.” [Bukhari (5778) and Muslim (109 and 110)].
And scholars as Sheikh `Uthaimaan (radiallahu'anhu) have denounced the use of suicide bombers as he said: "In reality, the one who commits suicide, generally does so because of his desperate situation, either as a direct result of an act of Allah or a human being. So you find him unable to cope with that which has afflicted him, and in actual fact he is like one who is calling for help from the scorching heat of the fire. So he has progressed from that which was tough (bad) to that which is worse. And if he was patient, then Allah would have assisted him in dealing with the difficulty."
What's your stance and answer?
|
| Answer |
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you so much and you are very right when you said this issue is a controversial from the beginning till now. However, I shall point to you that the issue deserves to be a controversial thus the scholars have different views about its nature.
For sure, no scholar I know, would consider suicide as a legal or permissible act. Meaning, those who are legitimizing it they don't consider it as a suicide but Istishahd as they call it.
With all respect to different views and opinions, I believe that this is considered as a means of liberation to many Palestinians who are living in the occupied land. Therefore, I would also prefer that the learned and scholars of Palestine who are living in the atrocities are in better position to determine the necessity and importance of a such means. In other words, there is textual statement about this issue, even though every body is trying his best to apply some verses on it. It is a new way and means as far as Islamic history is concerned. I don't deny of having some similarities in the best but its actual form is a new. Therefore, its adaptation or rejection should be based on its outcoming towards achieving the ultimate goals and ends.
Also, there is a dare need to review all means and strategies from time to time. Meaning, once a means is found to be less efficient after being efficient one time, then we shall not stick on it and keep using it especially when it is possible to try other means and ways. In Islam, means are subject to change and review from time to time. Thus they are Ijtihadic and human in their nature. Therefore, I am of the opinion that there is a need to review this means and examine its impact and contribution towards putting a quick end to the atrocities of Palestinian.
Having said all this, I stand firm that innocent from both parties should not be targeted, I mean by that, children, women, old people are not aggressors or oppressors. Furthermore, the properties and lives of animals have to be also protected. Thus, Islam condemns oppression, occupation and killing innocent people.
All in all, I shall call upon beloved Palestinian scholars and policy makers to re-evaluate and review from time to time all methods and means especially Istishihadic operations and peace processes, etc.. they have been using it in their legitimate struggle against oppression and injustice. I believe that there shouldn't be any importation of fatwa about this means. I mean our beloved scholars outside Palestinians should give trust to the Palestinian scholars living under occupation to deliver the correct fatwa related to this issue. Let us pray to Allah to punish oppressors and aggressors and let us pray Him to protect the lives of children, old people, women and all innocents.
For clarification, there is also a thinking that there is no innocent in Israel, I am in great doubt about this claim, thus, it is a common knowledge that not all Israelis are Zionists nor all of them approved what Zionists are doing against Palestinians. Therefore, let us agree that those who oppose the policy of Zionists should not be considered as soldiers and oppressors to Palestinians. In this regard, they should be considered as innocent and non-combatants. The same thing applies to the children, women and old people.
Allah Almighty knows best.

| Question |
Dear sir,
I want you to shed light on how we can help Palestinians trough boycotting American and Israeli products. It seems to me that some people really want to do something.
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Thank you. It is my belief that strategic and comprehensive approaches would always be most vital and productive. Therefore, it is an obligation upon Muslim intellectuals and policy makers to strategize and come up with concrete actions and methods that would help to put a quick end to the atrocities of Palestinians. The individual solutions and views should be respected but it has to be based on a thorough study and it has to undergo through more collective discussion and elaboration.
Certainly, boycotting the products of enemy might be considered as a means to force them to stop oppression against Palestinians. Surely, it has to be studied carefully and deeply. Furthermore, I stand for varieties of means and ways. I don't believe in only one way or means of solving problems. In other words, Palestinians and Muslims have to have more means and ways of combating the oppressors and aggressors. They should not limit themselves at one means only.
Having said that, I as an individual, believe that well organized and comprehensive boycott would certainly have its impact and contribution to the end of oppression. Furthermore, I, personally, believe that pacific and non-violent demand and highly organized demonstrations for a week or month could be considered as one of the ways that could be considered in denouncing the humiliations of Palestinians. This approach goes along with Indians experience in ending British colonial occupation to their land.
All in all, let us open our minds and hearts to all sincere and practical ways and means leading to the end of atrocities and oppression.
