| Question |
Is it halal to eat cats? Why not?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
It is forbidden to eat cats for two reasons. First it is among the beastful animals which lives on preying others. Secondly, it is among the khaba'ith (abominable things) which cause disgust either in smell or taste.

I foreplayed my wife to the point of ejaculation but no insertion. What should I do. Do I have kaffarah for breaking the fast?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
You are supposed to fast another day in compensation of this day that you broke. When ejaculation happens with desire, it breaks the fast. You don't have to do kaffara since no intercourse took place.

| Question |
Watching movies which may sometimes contain nude or kissing scenes
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
A Muslim is supposed to lower his/her gaze by not looking at what Allah has made forbidden. Allah says: "Let the believing men lower their gaze..." And He also said: "And let the believing women lower their gaze."
Lowering the gaze is not just for humans or real people; it applies as well to pictures and movies, especially when they contain scenes that stimulate desires.

| Question |
Can zakat-ul-fitr be given after Eid? Some Imams say absolutely no, while others say it should be done before, but if done after, no harm.
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
According to the hadith, if zakatul-fitr> is given after the Eid then it counts as a general sadaqah. The reason for this is, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Let them (i.e. the poor) be sufficient in this day (i.e. day of Eid).

As'salamualaikum!
I want to know if we can use a breath freshner during fasting, one that is alcohol free? Thank you
|
| Answer |
Wa'alykum as-Salamu warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
I don't think it breaks the fast, but if you can avoid using it, it is better to excercise caution. It is better to stay away from anything that might enter the body or the stomack while fasting. But anyway, it does not break the fast.

| Question |
My question is regarding Itakaf in last ten days of Ramadan. I'm a student/housewife and wants to do Itakaf for odd nights in the last ten days of Ramadan. Can i do itakaf one day and take a gap and do it again on another day?
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
The sunnah is to do all 10 days together. It is supposed to be in the masjid. Women can also locate a specific place at home and seclude themselves as a spiritual retreat. You can do i'tikaf for one day but the sunnah is to do ten nights, but there is a reward for even doing i'tikaf for one day.

Respected Scholar Assalam o alikum
I have a issue regarding my purity to pray and read Quran. I gained purity after my monthly cycle on the 23 of August and started fasting. My cycle is regular normally but its only been the second time that I notice a change (muddy or light brown) in the colour of my normal discharge just after 15 days of the last cycle. Its not bleeding at all. I am not expecting my cycle to start before at least 20 or21 of this month which is more than 2 weeks. I know a reference from Ayesha bin Jahash may Allah be pleased with her. She was reported to say that we would not consider any yellow or brown discharge after we gained purity. I am very confused about it as the days of Ramadan are passing quickly. Please guide me if I can still fast, pray and especially read the Quran by holding it, not from my memory.
May Allah reward you for helping and guiding people.
Please do answer me I have asked this question to so many people and searched on islamic websites but no avail.

| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
You can count your cycle up to 15 days. Whatever comes out after is considered istihadah for which you will be praying and fasting as normal, and you will just make a fresh wudu' for each salah.

| Question |
Assalamu alaikum!!
I have committed a shameful act (masturbation)repeatedly during my teen years which then reduced as i got older. Now i am married and in my late thirties. I engage in this act very rarely even now. i am not sure if something is wrong with me. During my teen years, I would make promises to Allah never to do it again and if i do then let me not have children when i get married. But it was hard to give up this habit and countless times I broke my promise. i am trying for a baby now and not successful. I always wonder is it because of the broken promises during my teen and early twentites. I ask forgiveness for this shameful deeds but is there something i can do to wash awy these sins, especially during this holy month? Thank you
|
| Answer |
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
You should be making sincere tawbah that Allah forgives you and helps you change your bad habits. You should also be careful as this habit might have a negative impact on your ability to produce. So it is advised that you seek a medical advice.

| Question |
Dear respected scholar. About 13 yrs ago I was at school with this girl. We always used to argue with her, etc. Now every time she sees someone she says I bullied her to the extent where she had to leave school, which is so untrue. I was 12 - 13 years old at the time and now every time I make duaa or ask Allah for forgiveness this issue comes to my mind. I feel like maybe I have to apologize to her after all these years even though I don't feel that I did anything so bad to her. It was just being childish at school. I feel like Allah will never bless me because of this person that cannot forget these things. By the way, it's only these last couple of years that she started talking. About 5 yrs ago I saw her and she was happy to see me and even showed me her son and a picture of her husband. I don't want to apologize to her because then it will look as if I really did bully her but then again if I don't apologize she is giving me a bad name and maybe she is really hurt. Oh I am so lost. I don't want to feel like I have hurt anyone in this life. Is asking Allah for forgiveness enough on this issue or should I get her number and tell her that if I ever did hurt her it was unintentional and immature...Please guide me...
