Question
For Umm Dania:

I have read that many educated people in Iraq have been killed or threatened into leaving Iraq. What is your personal experience with this situation?
Is it true that educated Iraqi's are being killed more than regular people? Does the general public believe this is accidental, part of all the killing in Iraq or does the public have some other reason they believe in?

For Mr Mukhtar:

As an Army man, how do you feel about the fact that educated people in your
society are being singled out for murder? Not on a personal level but on the level of how does it affect Iraqi society as a whole? Has the army made any attempt to protect these people who are so valuable to Iraqi Society? What would be the effect on Iraqi society if the murders of your educated people continues, leaving only the uneducated to defend Iraq or to treat brave defenders of Iraq? Is it possible this pattern of murders is purposeful in order to weaken Iraq? The way the intellectual elite in Palestine is continually murdered?

Thank you
David Little

Answer
Dr. Umm Dania: Well, that's true. Many educated people, such as well-known doctors, professors in universities, have been killed. Killing those people is carefully-prepared plan to destroy the scientific infrastructure of the country.

Harb Al-Mukhtar: Educated people have always been attacked by the Israeli intelligence, and they have been sought for killing even in the days of Saddam. We as military men know their importance; that’s why we used to take good care of them. The Iraqi society depends on those educated people, because they represent the future of the country.

The army was dissolved by the Americans after the invasion; so Iraqi military men don’t have any role any more.

Those educated people always think leaving the country is much better than being killed, and this is a personal decision they should make since the new government is not protecting them.

Definitely it is not an accident most of the assassinations of Iraqi scientists are prepared by the Mossad or its allies.

Question
Why are Muslims killing Muslims?

Answer
Harb Al-Mukhtar: Islam as a religion does not accept killing innocents. Killing is a human act that depends on the manners of the killer himself/herself, and nobody accepts killing as an act.

Umm Dania: Who said the car bombs targeting Iraqis are committed by Muslims? No investigation has revealed that those acts are being done by Muslims. The US has a great intelligence; yet it hasn’t discovered who does these crimes against Iraqi Muslims.

Question
First, I would like to acknowledge the deep shame and sorrow I feel for the injustice the US has inflicted upon Iraq. I would like to know what keeps your passion for justice alive. And, what are the steps each of you would propose (beyond the obvious of the occupation ending) for the Iraq you envision?

Answer
Harb Al-Mukhar: Thank you for your emotions. It is my country; I believe we should take care of it and do all what we can to keep it independent. We honor ourselves as Iraqis by giving out our blood to be spoiled for the sake of its independence. We used to fight under its flag for a long time. We believe it is worth defending.

First of all, we should have the Iraqi police and army back without the influence of the US troops. They should be governed by the Iraqis in order to achieve stability and security for people, and to have independent decisions without American interference. Secondly, we should make a national assembly for all parties in Iraq and choose a new ruler for Iraq. Thirdly, we should have elections and choose a president authorized to make the right decisions for the Iraqi people.

Umm Dania: Islam orders us to cooperate with people all over the world; so we just feel that there must be some people who know justice and work hard to spread it in the world. We still remember the young American girl who stood against the Israeli tank which was razing Palestinian homes; she sacrificed her life for justice.

To end the occupation, we fellow peaceful means, and if they don’t work, we are ready to sacrifice our lives for the sake of our country.

Question
Assalamu Alikoum,

I would like to ask , how is the women situation now?

Thanks

Answer
Umm Dania: Well... there is no security at all, and it is dangerous for women and even men to live their normal life. Women are suffering from many problems such as losing their husbands or having sons arrested in prisons for no reason. Of course, this affects Iraqi women negatively.

For example, I am a female pharmacist and I can't go to my pharmacy; I can’t keep working there due to the absence of security and the spread of drugs and criminals all over the city. That was not the case under the former regime.

Harb Al-Mukhtar: The status of women is much worse than before. In the days of Saddam, we used to have so many women working in all official places. Nowadays, most women are doing nothing.

Question
Peace Upon You,

With regards to the Iraq situation and the killings, how true is it that those killings of foreign nationals are done in the name of jihad? how true is it, in the name of insanity/terrorism?

Thanks for taking the time to answer these queries, since we are located quite far off from the Middle East, we are pretty much unaware of real situations in Iraq, apart from the news on the television. Despite all, I pray for the well-being of Muslims there.

God Bless all of us.

Answer
Harb Al-Mukhtar: Killing is not a Muslim act; Jihad is an act of people under occupation. We don't accept the killing of foreigners and that’s what the Muslim Sheikhs have declared so many times. You know that many of the militants have different goals and this could lead to some killings of foreigners. Some of them are not Iraqi; they came from other countries. Some of them get bribed.

Umm Dania: May Allah Bless you too. All Muslims should defend each other because Muslims are one nation. The mujahedeen are those who are attack American troops and bomb them and the media doesn't show this side of the issue. And you know that some media organizations tried to publish these events; what was the result? Just that those media organizations been accused of distributing lies.

The bombs that target Iraqis are not done by the mujahedeen; they're done by the Americans themselves and their allies to prolong their occupation of Iraq and to give them the opportunity to play the role of protectors of the Iraqi people. There is just no evidence that the Iraqi mujahedeen committed those violent acts and targeted Iraqis.

Question
Do you feel that the current leadership in the Iraqi National Guard is up to the challenge of keeping Iraq unified?
Answer
No, because the commanders of this National Guard are not qualified enough to command troops, and because the troops are mostly militias that have loyalty to some parties and not for the other. Moreover, they are not well-trained. They are not equipped to defend the country, which could lead to dividing Iraq rather than unify it.

Question
Salaam,

I would like to say first off that many people in the West do not approve of the US occupation on Iraq. I am sorry you have had to struggle and deal with injustice like this. My question is, we always hear on TV that it is terrorists that do not want Americans in Iraq - everybody else is happy. Is this true or is it in fact the majority of Iraqi's that want Americans gone? I believe Iraq should decide what type of government it wants and I hope it is the people in the end who run the country. I wish you all well and may Allah bless Iraq.

Answer
Thanks for your feelings. It is obvious that no one accepts the invasion of this country. So none of the good Iraqis like to see the occupation troops in Iraq. It’s the media that shows that Americans accept the occupation of Iraq, although the fact is that they don’t.

Question
I think that the zionist state is behind all the bombings in Baghdad. It is a propaganda and I dont believe what is on the news anymore.

Answer
Harb Al-Mukhtar: Bombs that target Iraqi civilians are done by Zionists, but bombs that target the occupation troops are done by the resistance; I do agree with you about not believing the media.

Question
Is Iraq free?

Answer
Harb Al-Mukhtar: Really a funny question! They have destroyed everything in Iraq—all its ministries, the infrastructure, all the plans which were put to increase the ability of the Iraqis to improve the country. Although more than a year has passed, they have destroyed 245 companies—totally with all the equipments. How can we re-build the country? Yet, they are speaking about democracy and freedom.

Umm Dania: No, Iraq is not free, because American troops are roaming the streets here and there and they have control over everything in Iraq.

Answer
Muslim organizations are dealing with the kidnapping of the foreigners whether they are Muslims or not. As to the oil, the Minister of Oil himself cannot answer the question of how much the quantity daily exported is and in what price. Please spare me this answer and ask Bush; he may answer if he knows.
