Recent media reports indicate the the US special envoy to Sudan Richard Williamson will lead a US delegation for talks with Sudanese officials on the normalization of ties between the two countries.
This step came at a time when the United States has been the most critical nation of Sudan's government, its involvement in Darfur, and its relations with China. The United States has consistently described the crisis in Darfur as a "genocide" and accused the Sudanese government of committing such "genocide." So, why would the US normalize ties with a country it has criticized for long? and Why does Sudan need to normalize ties with United States? Besides, Can this be a blow to the Chinese in the region?
