Dr. Monzer Kahf is Ph.D, in Economics from University of Utah. For over a decade he has served as Research Economist at Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has authored more than 25 books and monographs and above 70 articles in English and Arabic, on Islamic banking and finance, Islamic economics, Zakah and Awqaf. In recognition of his invaluable contributions to Islamic Economics he was awarded IDB Prize in Islamic Economics: 2001.
For more than 34 years, Dr. Kahf has been touring the Muslim communities in North America and overseas and lecturing on a variety of issues of community concern especially in the financial and economic areas.
Among Dr. Kahf's publications is The Islamic Economy: Analytical Study of the Functioning of the Islamic Economic System. Plainfield, Indiana: The Muslim Students' Association of the United States and Canada, 1978. (Translated into Turkish, Indonesian and Korean; Also, he Co-edited the International Economic Relations From Islamic Perspective, with M. A. Mannan and Ausaf Ahmad.
