In expectation of the local and regional Danish elections of November 17, 2009, Danes are witnessing a shift to the right of all Danish parties in terms of immigrants and minorities. In order to discover the impact of this political shifts and the relevance of votes at the local level, an understanding of the local democracy is welcomed.
Therefore, IslamOnline.net (IOL)’s European Muslims Page is honored to host Dr. Jakob Erle, the director of the International Academy for Education and Democracy for a Live Dialogue session on Danish local democracy dedicated to the participation of minorities.
How democracy works, the electoral system, minorities’ engagement at the local level, Muslims’ civic and political participation, voters’ expectations, and local politicians’ prerogatives are among the issues which need tackling for mapping the functioning of the local electoral process and its outcomes in Denmark.
Please feel free to Join us live on November 12 at 15:00- Makkah time, 12:00 GMT, or send us your questions regarding the topic of this session before at European Muslims.
