Question How Islamic relief reacts in times of war or disasters?

Answer It depends on the country. If the disaster takes place in a country where we have an established office, then we can react very quickly by firstly doing an assessment of what is needed, and then delivering the required aid. If it is in a country where we have no office, then we will assess if we have the capabilities to respond.

Question Tell us more about the current humanitarian situation in Gaza. Thanks
Answer As you can see on the TV screens the situation is extremely bad. Stocks of food in Gaza are low and the hospitals are at breaking point. Islamic Relief is able to source aid locally and we are now looking to external suppliers. As each day passes the situations gets worse. The hospitals in particular are in desperate need for aid, as they are receiving huge numbers of causalities, and they don't have enough beds. Also, only 50 per cent of the ambulances in Gaza are in working order. So over all - things are very bad.

Question Asslamu Alykom brother Jamshid, first of all I'd love to thank you and Islamic Relief's members for your efforts in Gaza and the whole world, Jazakom Allaho Khairn.

Concerning the current situation in Gaza, Can you tell us more about the most important needs for the Gazans right now, and how can we help?
thank you.

Answer The most important needs at the moment are medical aid. We are able to source much what we have locally at the moment. We have visited the local hospital Al Shifa and have a list from the doctors of the most important needs. We are currently working on sourcing some of these things externally. Food is going to be an issue in the coming days if the bombing continues. We are planning emergency distribution. The way you can help is by donating if you wish on line at www.islamic-relief.com

Question Salamo Alykoum brother, actually, I think that people in Gaza especially children are in a desperate need not only for medical and financial support, but also for psychological support, so do you have any program or campaign for this purpose?
Answer Yes we do. We actually run a psychosocial program aimed at helping children who suffer from trauma and other issues. However, you have made a good point here, the bombing of Gaza has a bad effect on the psychology of the children.

Question It is unclear from your response to an earlier question if you are able to go into Palestine and help.

Can we contribute to help Muslims there or will the Zionists stop the aid under one pretext or another.
Answer
We are already in Gaza and have an office there. So our team are already distributing aid to hospitals, and now we are preparing to deliver food in the coming days.

Question Do you have enough volunteers or you need more? And how can we reach you?
Answer Our staff are working hard on the ground in Gaza under very difficult circumstances. I'm afraid we can't take volunteers, as there is no way for volunteers to get into Gaza.

Question Salam alleykom,

According to the news, tons of supplies are waiting at Gaza-Egypt border. What does the Egyptian government say as the reason for not opening the crossing? I am really curious to know as they could not cite anything except the security of the volunteers. Jazakallahu Khairan
Answer I am not sure as to their reasons. However what I do know is that we need aid to get into Gaza as soon as possible. Especially that the bombing continues.

Question slams brother,
I am really curious to know more about the amount of donations that Islamic Relief had delivered till know, is it enough for you to save the Gazan's and help them as you should or not?
I also wish to know whether it's available to help by donating by medical or food supplies, and if so how can we deliver those things to you?
Thanks.
Answer Yes - we have delivered Five trucks of medical supplies (around $126,000) to the needy hospitals. As well as this we are preparing more medical distribution and food in the coming days. In regards to in-kind donations I think logistically this is difficult at the moment.

Question Please tell us,if the present condition prevails, will you be able to provide care and aid?
Answer the situation is getting worse each day. I think after about two weeks if no new aid gets in then there will be a major humanitarian disaster. The hospitals however need urgent medical supplies immediatelty.
