Question
asalaam alaykum
Is there any medical drugs that decreases sexual urges for men? There is a cure for every disease I think abnormal high sexual urges is a disease.
Answer
If you mean premature ejaculation, that could be 1) psychological, 2) it could be related to chronic prostatitis.
There are many men who have such a problem. I prefer to do an abdominal ultrasound to the prostate and a semen culture to rule out chronic prostatitis.
If there is no problem, there are many drugs to solve this problem such as Seroxat, one tablet daily for a long time with no side effects.
If you mean with sexual urges (hypersexuality) it is not a medical problem.

Question
I am a 19 year old girl and i suffer from the problem of frequent and excessive urine, especially at nights. This problem started around 1 year back. i consulted a urologist, she gave me some pills but to no effect. I don't feel comfortable leaving home because of this problem. Can you advice?
Thank you.
Answer
In this case you must do some exams, like sugar in blood as fasting (FBS), urine analysis and ultrasound to the kidneys and urinary bladder to see the capacity of the bladder when it is in a full state. I think if the capacity is small, you can take some medications to relax the bladder and if it is an infection you can take an antibiotic.
Sometimes all lab tests are normal and the frequency and urgency are due to psychological stress and not an organic disease. I prefer to show the results to a urologist and discuss the problem with him. There is no excessive urine normally except in Con disease, which is related to the adrenal gland dysfunction and this is related to hormonal disturbances of the gland so you can do the hormonal function of the adrenal gland also and discuss it with your urologist.

Question
Dear Doctor,
I suddenly suffered yesterday evening from a severe sensation that I need to go to the bathroom even though there was no urine. I also found blood in the little urine that I passed. I am in extreme pain right now due to this sensation. What can I do?
Answer
It is the symptoms of urinary tract infection. First of all you must drink a lot of fluids. About 3 liters per day. You must also do a urine analysis. After that you can take an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Question
Hello,
Ever since I gave birth to my third child, I've had trouble holding in my urine. What can I do? Is there any solution?
Thank you.
Answer
I can understand that your problem is what we call urinary incontinence. If it this is so, there are four types of incontinence: complete, urge, stress, and mixed incontinence.
Usually after the third or fourth birth there is relaxation to the pelvic floor muscles resulting in stress incontinence, which means if the woman exerts pressure to the abdomen or sneezes, some urine will pass the sphincter. We can make the diagnosis when you have a full bladder and ask you to cough. If we see some leak of urine, it is a stress incontinence, but if you can not reach the toilet and some urine passes out, it is an urge incontinence.
I prefer to do an ultrasound with a full bladder and do a postvoiding film to see if there is any residual urine left in the bladder. We prefer to do a urodynamic study to the urinary bladder and sphincter and show the results to a urologist.
If it is stress incontinence, there is a kind of simple surgery to correct the position of the urethra. If it is an urge incontinence, we can give some drugs to relax the urinary bladder.

Question
Thank you for this opportunity.
Sometimes I feel a dull pain in my back. I have been told by friends that this might be due to a kidney problem. Is this true? Should I see a doctor?
Answer
You must do some exams to rule out any kidney problem such as urine analysis, Blood urea nitroge, Creatinine, and an ultrasound to the kidneys and urinary bladder and to visit a urologist with the results.

Question
In the summer, how much water should we drink to protect our kidneys and our urinary tract?
Answer
The average in summer is two to three liters and it depends on the age and the physical activities during the day. I prefer for young people not to drink less than two liters especially in summer.

Question
Assalamu alaikum Doctor.
I am the mother of four children. With my first two children who are girls, I had no trouble at all potty training them.
My boys, however, are a different case. Now one boy is nearly 7 and the other is 5, but both tend to wet their beds at night sometimes, especially in the winter. In the winter, I have to let them both wear diapers so that they don't wake up drenched in their urine in the morning. In summer there is no problem except at a very irregular basis. What can I do so that this problem goes away in the winter?
Answer
Exactly as you said, the problem is in winter for many reasons, like the duration of night is longer and there is no sweating, I mean that all the fluids they take in go to the bladder. So in such cases, we must treat children after the age of five, so we can give some instructions to your older boy like not to take fluids two hours before bed, not to punish the child in the morning after wetting the bed, not to let anyone in the house know about it so as not to embarrass the child. In these cases, we need to give the child moral support and not to punish him for a problem that he really has no control of.
We follow these instructions for two weeks and see how many times he will be wetting himself. If it is less than five times in two weeks , I think there is no need to give him any medication. If there is no response with these instructions, we must do some exams like urine analysis and an ultrasound for the capacity of the bladder and after that we can decide if he needs medications for a period not less than three months taking care to follow the above instructions, i.e. not to punish or embarrass the child.

Question
Hello
I came across this interesting chat and thought I'd ask a question that has been nagging at me for years. I'm currently 25 years old, but I must go to the bathroom much more frequently than my friends and family. Most of my friends can go out of the house and refrain from going to the bathroom all day long. Otherwise they just go once or twice during the day. I, on the other hand, go to the bathroom every two hours. What is the reason for this?
Answer
I do not know if you have the same problem during the night. If so, I think you must do some exams to the kidneys and urinary bladder, if not it is a psychological stress more than physical problem.
Anyhow, it is preferable to do the exams which are Urine Analysis, Ultrasound to the urinary bladder and kidneys, to rule out any physical problem. In your case there are some medications to relax the contractions of the urinary bladder to increase the bladder's capacity. In my opinion, what you have is stress more than a physical cause, because you do not have the same problem at night.

Question
Jazakumullah khairan for this valuable service.
I have been married now for 12 years. My husband who is 35 has for the past two years been suffering from premature ejaculation, or else sometimes he doesn't even get an ejaculation and goes limp very quickly before he can insert. I have become disinterested in sex as a result. Is there anything that can be done to solve this problem?
Answer
If the problem started just two years ago, I think it is related to a chronic prostatitis, so I'll recommend some exams to the prostate like semen culture and an ultrasound to the prostate. If it is prostatitis, he can take the appropriate drugs from your urologist. If there is no infection, there is some other medication to delay the ejaculation like Seroxat, to be taken for about one month.

Question
Asalaam walaykoum cheikh.
I would like to ask you about a woman in her 40s concieving. If it is okay, what would she have to do to get pregnant? I know that this question is not for this session but I really need some advise. My husband never had any and I do from my previous marriage. I want and wish to give him a child but I really don't know what would avoid me from conceiving while when I was much younger I didn't had any problem. Please help me to understand the concept and what I have to do to get pregnant. I will really appreciate your cooperation knowing that this is not the session for this question. Thank you very much. salaam walaykoum
Answer
Your question is appropriate for this session. As for your husband, we need some exams for your husband: semen analysis to see the sperm count, activity of the sperm, volume and morphology of the if sperm. Then, we need an ultrasound to the testicles to see if there is any problem in the testicles or if there is any varicose veins and reflex of blood to the testicles. If there is a problem in the sperm count or activity we need to do some hormonal exams like follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and testesterone levels and to show the results to a urologist in you area.
As for you, you have to be seen by a gynocologist directly. The fact that you have had children previously does not mean that curently you do not have a problem.

Question
my husband has the problem of kidney stones. the stone comes out in the urine almost once every year. can we do something to prevent the formation of stones.
also is it safe to let the stone come out on its own in the urine or do we need to take medical help.
is there any treatment from the sunnah which my husband can use for this problem.
please help.
Answer
In many cases we cannot find the cause of stone formation. In any case of kidney stone disease, we must make some exams like calcium level, uric acid, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, sodium and potassium and urine analysis, plus x-rays or ultrasound regularly to the kidneys and bladder.
I prefer when your husband voids a stone to make an analysis to the composition of the stone in a lab and take the appropriare diet. Some kidney stone diseases are related to the parathyroid gland or to a disturbance in the bowel and its absorbtion.

Question
assalam alykum i delivered my first child on 16th jan04 throughout my pregnancy i had urinary tract infection even after treatment i was not cured. Now its nearly 5months but still i have the problem could u suggest anything that could help me. i was given bactiflox, uricol after delivery. jazakallah
Answer
First, you have to stop medications for five to seven days, take lots of fluids, and do Chamomile baths to the vaginal area. After that do urine analysis and culture and an ultrasound to the kidneys and urinary bladder. If there is any infection, you must take the appropriate drug for a long time (to be determined by your phyisician).
There is a kind of urinary tract infection which we call honeymoon cystitis, which means an infection after intercourse. In such cases, we used to give one tablet of the appropriate antibiotic one hour before intercourse. If you are used to using sit baths of Chamomile, I hope you will never have the infection again.

assalaoualaikoum
i'm a 23 years old man and i feel that i am losing my libodo gradually...... i feel as if my erection do not tend to be as 'powerful' as it used to be, i.e, a decrease in blood pumping. could you please tell me the possible causes and remedies. jazakallah
Answer
I do not know whether you are single or married. If you are single, we cannot evaluate your condition until you get married because what you are talking about is called Erectile Dysfunction. This means not having full erections for sexual intercourse for a period of six months.
So, we cannot evaluate the condition for singles. If you are married, we have to examine you and do some lab tests like semen analysis and the hormones of the pituitary gland like luteinizing hormone (LH) and Prolactin levels, plus a testesterone level and to evaluate the results by your urologist.

Question
salaam,
After I urinate, I find that sometimes I secrete a colorless liquid when I sit down, or make a movement like going into sujood. It is not sticky, and resembles water. It is only in very small quantities, not enough to make a drop. Should I be concerned?
Answer
We must take this drop and examine it in a lab to see if it is urine or not. If it is urine, I prefer to make a urethrogram to see if there is any problem in the urethra. In general, I prefer to wait for a few minutes after voiding and squeezing the penis from the side of the testicales many times before leaving the toilet.
