Question The US about turn has to be given serious doubt. Their intentions are always egoiste barbaric and parasitic. From the brilliant article of the esteemed journalist Mr Ramzy Baroud: US Terror Report: Selective Data and Wrong Lessons
www.mathaba.net/news/?x=591395
It also remains unclear how powerful Al-Qaeda really is, and how much of its capabilities were hyped* in order to enable the Bush administration to continue its mission.

* hyped = false flags – my interpretation
Looks like the US has bitten more than they can chew, thanks to our brave men fighting the occupation.
I am no fan of Sudanese PM but I think that another puppet in the Ummah is not needed nor will be welcomed ANYMORE. The Sudanese PM has to understand that it is we the people of Ummah who burn the midnight lights in supporting and giving solidarity to the people of Sudan. I am neither a fan of China but I would much rather stick with those who have given me support, need me and has no intention of zionist/neo-con vile ideology.

Because of US sciopathic polices of white supremacist cum neo-con zionazis the world is less safe and above all we in the Ummah will not tolerate the carnefice any more. Do not understand the suffering people, they have reached a point of Enough is enough.
Isn’t it time the Ummah shifted away from the US sociopathic polies of corrupt puppet governments and suppressed population leading to insecurity?

What are your views?
Answer First, Sudan conditions are different from most other part of the Umma, for a long time since the coming of the Ingaz government to Sudan in 1989, the country is ostracized by western powers especially the US, during this time the country suffered alone going through different kinds of boycott, containment policies, and economic sanctions. The current process of normalization is in its early stages, different lobbies in US oppose opening dialogue with Sudan.

Question
Slam 3likom,

What are the main issues governing the US-Sudan talks on normalization of ties?
Answer

I think the road of normalization between the two countries will long and difficult, since the Sudanese government wants normalization to be based on equal grounds, I know that Sudan is a small country but it has dignity and self respect, it has its own conditions for normalization. For this reason, the road will long and the process will not be achieved over night. The main issues will be:

1- Sudan being on the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
2- Economic boycot
3- peace in Darfur

Question
Thank you for your presence today,

Do you think that the US will finally give in and start the real dialogue with the Islamic Courts and give in some concessions because the latter has an increasing popularity in the country and global wise?
Answer

I think the US realized that the situation in Somalia is critical and going from bad to worse. The Islamic Coutrs is a significant player in Somalia, although it is not a homogeneous organization, so the US have limited options there, and have no other way but to negotiate with the Courts. There are news that the Americans met with Shiekh Sharif in Nairobi recently.

Question
Dear Dr. Ahmed,

Do you think there is a deal between US and Sudan in relation to the recent release of Gwantanamo detainees, in particular in the case of Sami Alhaj?
Answer
Not necessarily, because prisoners in Gwantanamo are a heavy burden on US administration, especially Sami Alhaj, the everyday hammering of Aljazeera definately will resonate all over the Arab and Muslim World. For this reason, releasing prisoners will help restore the tarred image of US.

Question
Do you think the United States really cares about "fighting terrorism" or fighting againts dectatorship, violation of human rights in the world, because if it actually does how can they initiate talks with a governmnet they accuse of sponsoring terrorism. I bet if Hamas finds an oil well in the Gaza Strip the Bush administration will immediately call for normalizing ties with Hamas. Since the Mullahs kicked the Americans from exploiting the Iranian oil that the US hated Iran, not because Iran is sponsoring terroor. So Do you think this whole idea is valid when it comes to Sudan.
Answer
I do think the US is concerned much about improving human rights or spreading democracy over the World, however, its interests come first. Regarding Sudan, the case is little different. This is so because there is a strong lobby inside the US, composed of religious right, Zionists, and elemnts from the Afro-American community who oppose the orientation of the Sudanese government, as a result Sudan became an issue in the internal politics.

Now the US administration thinks its interests will be served better by normalizing its relations with Sudan, because international & regional conditions are different now. The Horn of Africa, the Lakes, the Sahel area are all in flames, food security conditions are critical.

Question
Dr. Ahmed, I would like to ask what the public opinion in Sudan currently is regarding normalizing ties with the United States.

I would like to know at leats what scholarsh, activists, politicians think about this.
Are there parties in the governmnet or in the opposition who refuse such step.
Answer There is no single position in this regard, for one group there is a cautious welcome, for another there is skepticism regarding the real intentions of the US, some speak about broken promises from the American side, regarding previous committments after singing of the peace agreement in Nivasha, Kenya, between North and South Sudan.

Question

Do you think Sudan will accept the kind of UN forces that the United States wanted deployed to Darfur.

Sudan fear that such troops will include US spu agents and individuals not objective.
Answer

I do not think Sudan will accept International peacekeeping troops, at least to be the dominant componant, the government insists that African troops form the backbone of the peacekeeping force.

Question
Dr. as regard to the releas of Sami Alhaj from Gwantanamo, what are the requirements that should be fulfiled to realise the release of remaining detainees?
and what are the resrictions imposed by the US adminstration to release the Sudanese detainees, Sami Alhaj is an example? and to which extent you think Khartoum will respond?
Answer I think the release of the remaining prisoners will come gradualy, since being in captivity will further tarnish the already negative image of the US. Usally conditions for release include surveillance, prevention from leaving the country. President Omer Elbashir declared after visiting Sami Alhaj that he will put no restrictions on those releasd form Gwantanamo.
