I compare this to an earthquake. When a big one hits, the pressure is alleviated until the tension builds up in another 20 or 30 years. When Israel destroys Hamas (give or take about one week's time) there will be relative quiet among you Arabs. Do you agree with my assessment?

I do not believe that the result would be as you said, despite the fact that I agree with you that there has been a build up for about 50 years. This build up is materialized in the Israeli's dream of ending Palestinians on their land. Had there been some in Israel that believe that within one week they can totally destroy Hamas or destroy the Palestinian resistance to occupation, since the real issue is resistance to occupation, I believe had this been the belief in Israel, that they would not have waited even one moment to do so.

You can never deal with war from a military stand point only, because no war can never achieve its goals until it also achieves the political goals. Some indeed define war from the aspect of applying one's will, so I do not agree with you that we must deal with any possible invasion from the angle of what happened in 1967, because have there been a total victory in 1967, we would not be talking about another invasion now.

I strongly advise you to go back and read some opinion polls that were conducted in Europe. A great majority of Europeans believe that the greatest threat to world peace and humanity is the United Sates and Israel, and I am sure if they were presented with the question, that they would not hesitate to advise Israel and the United States to jump off the nearest skyscraper.

I am surprised why we make you disgusted ?? Does natural law makes you disgusted ?? What I mean is that no occupier ever achieve victory by the number of planes, on the other hand, the occupation forces always are defeated when it can not break the will of the occupied and could never legitimize its occupation.
I strongly advise you to go back and read some history, it looks like you need it, and read the history of what was the condition of those who you say own the warplanes at the beginning of the century, and I also remind you of the words of some great people that made history "I have a dream."

Thank you Mr. Professor, I share your opinion that what happened will probably have serious consequences to all sides, however, I believe that the absence of any political horizons after the inauguration of the new Israeli government and its declared policies which contains both military actions and political & economic sanctions against the Palestinian people made us now not considering the optimal avenue out, because we are now thinking that what would have happened had it not for this infiltration.
What I mean is that the declared policies of Olmert on June 22, dealt with two essential issues openly, the first was the continuation of assassinations even though it may lead, as it did, to civilian casualties as we have seen in the past few days, 22 civilians died in less than a week, the second issue is the continuing siege of the Palestinian people, thus you may be surprised to know that the Palestinians attitudes towards this issue where I believe that I expressed that attitude and not my personal views.

This is the real problem until now. Where there are no guarantees to make sure Israel will not go into Gaza and that is because truly until now, the Israeli government does not recognize that the Palestinians have the right to an independent state.

What role should the United States play in ending this international problem caused by the Palestinians?

I believe that this is not an international crisis and the Palestinians did not cause it. First, this event is being repeated daily with tens of American citizens in Iraq. No one ever called it an international crisis unless if were to think that issues that pertain to the Chosen People are back again and this Chosen People has the right to kill on a daily basis tens of Palestinians, and if one of them is either killed or seized, it is considered a threat to world peace.
As to what role America can play, I believe the person that was seized was a soldier and what the Palestinian resistance is demanding goes well with military rules all over the world where they are demanding the release of all women and children. We stress that they are demanding the release of women and children, knowing the fact that all international laws ban the abduction of women and children, and the Israeli government never needed anyone to remind it that they can not arrest children under any law, International or otherwise.
