Question my wife period fluctuates , sometimes 29 OR 30 OR 32 , which is the most safest period not to become preganant
Answer Sir;

Assalamo Alaikum

Fluctuations in a woman's period occur in most women, meaning it is normal to have a difference of 1-3 days between different menstrual periods.

Anyway, to answer your question: the safest period is the last five days before the next menstrual period and the first three days after menstruation stops. This means that the safest days are only 8 days during a regular cycle (whether 29 or 32).

Question I have heard that women can only get pregnant during a certain part of the menstrual cycle. Could my husband and I avoid the use of contraceptives if we avoid these times of the month?

Answer My lady;

Asalamo Alaikum,

You are correct. These days are called the safe period, but in order to practice this method you must have a regular menstrual cycle to precisely determine which days would be safest for intercourse. Woman can conceive during any day of the cycle except for the last 5 days before the next cycle.

This leaves very few days for sexual life free of worry.

In addition, the failure rate is about 30% and this means it is not an ideal method for preventing conception.

Question Ever since I got my period and it has been very very heavy and last for 10 days each time. I was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus.

I feel that I am losing so much blood and don't know if this will affect my health.

Is there something I need to do other than taking pills containing iron in them?
Answer My lady,

Assalamo Alaikum,

Are you married or not?

If u are not married, then the best thing to do is to take iron supplements and perform exercise. This will help to improve your condition but will not decrease the amount of blood lost.

If u are married, then, we may advise you to take oral contraceptives as they will markedly improve your condition and decrease the amount of blood lost.

Question Salaamu alaikum...
First of all i want to thak you for taking the time to discuss such an important issue among mulsims.

My question is the following:

I have three boys already and its very hard on me to manage house and kids by myself since im the one at home all the time. I get sick very often and weak and tired most of the time...Hardly weight 100 pounds...It will be even hard on me if i get pregnant again...He is the one who protects himself but im not taking pills actually cause it cause me trouble...Im afraid to get pregnant again. Is this a acceptable reason to get a surgery under islamic sharia?
Answer My lady;

Assalamo Alaikum,

From a medical point of view, this does not threaten your life and hence there is no need for this kind of surgery.

However, I am not a scholar or Mufti, so you should direct your question to a scholar rather than to me.

Jazzakha ALLAHU khyran...
Answer Sir;

Asalamo Alaikum,

Throughout time, and in every nation, there will be infertile men and women (unable to have children).This is a fact and it is written in the Quran so it will remain this way until the Day of Judgment.

Regarding your specific case, there are no medications you can take that will induce the testis to produce sperm.

The only thing that can be done is to repeat the testicular biopsy with a technique
called microsurgery to detect even one or two sperms. Other than this, there is no other way -as far as I know.

Question Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

I am 22 years old and I have just started taking the oral contraceptive pill last year. (I am slightly overweight) and I believe I am experiencing significant weight gain as a side effect. I do not have any other medical conditions but I have a family history of diabetes, hypertension and dyslipideamia. I work full time so unfortunately I do not exercise frequently. So, as it is really affecting my weight (approaching borderline obesity), what is the best option? Which oral contraceptive pill causes the least weight gain and yet as effective?

Thank you. May Allah bless you always.
Answer My lady;

Assalamo Alaikum,

I agree with you that one of the side effects of oral contraceptive pills is weight gain. However, there is no such thing as an "ideal way of contraception". Everything has its pros and cons especially in contraception.

As regards to your case, we advice the use of an intrauterine contraceptive device or the use of third generation oral contraceptives like "Yasmin".
