When my daughter was about 6 months old (she was born 6 weeks premature) her pediatrician thought that her vagina was too small and that I should take her to a gynecologist. The pediatrician said it could be treated with hormones at that age. I took her to a gyn, and he said he thought she was OK but I should bring her back when she was 18 months. But I forgot about it and never did. Now she's 17 years, and sometimes I wonder if she will have problems when she's ready to marry. But I think that nothing can be done now if she is too small. Can a woman really have this problem? Can anything be done? Should she have a premarital checkup when she's ready to marry?
Answer
Is she having regular monthly periods (menstruating)? If the answer is yes, then there should be no problem. You can not really detect at such an early age whether she is having a gynecological problem. But if she is menstruating now normally and has developed her secondary sex characteristics normally, I think there should be no problem regarding your worry.

Question
I am worried about contraception after i get my first baby, inshAllah, if Allah wills. I have heard a lot of bad things about contraceptive pills and would like an alternative way.
Thank you.
Answer
There are so many alternatives, it all depends on your age, your health situation, your parity. The best with the least failure rate would be IUD insertion (the loop). If its not applicable in your case, then there are other methods, but with more failure rates, e.g. the progesterone injections taken intramuscular every three months. Less efficient methods would be coitus interruptus, the use of condomns, following the safe period using vaginal pessaries, etc. But it is better to consult your gynecologist on that.

Question
Assalamu alaikum. I will be getting married soon, and I wanted to ask something that I don't know who to ask to. How many times should a husband have sex with his wife in the first night, or in the first few days? I understand that this is painful for the wife, and that it is as if she is wounded, and that the wound needs to heal. How many times would be safe and not painful for the wife in that beginning time?
Thank you
Answer
Alaykom Al-Salam. Intercourse is a normal physiological procedure and should never be harmful. It is painful, but if it is done properly, kindly, there sould be no harm, if it is done every night. On the contrary, repeating the procedure will help facilitating and acceptance. Once a night should be appropriate.
NB. stimulation by physical contact, kissing and so forth, will lubricate the vagina and facilitate the intercourse.

do you recommend that all couples carry out premarital tests? i feel embarassed to ask my would-be husband to take medical tests such as those for aids etc...what do you think?
Answer
Yes, I agree that an HIV test for AIDS is essential nowadays before marriage. If you live in a Mediteranean area a test for thallasaemia is essential too.
You should not be embarassed. It is your right, and his.

Question
How much bleeding from the wife is considered normal on the wedding night? When would the bleeding be considered so much that she must visit the doctor?
Answer
Actually, there is no specific amount of blood loss on the wedding night. It varies from one person to another depending on the degree of the hymen injury. It should be so little. But if its more like a period, and continues with each intercourse, then you should consult your gynaecologist (to exclude a defloration injury).

I am a Muslim brother who will be married, inshAllah soon and would like to know how to help my wife overcome her shyness on the first day of marriage.
Answer
If you knew her before, this should not be difficult. Any how, it is a psychological issue not a medical one, but my advise to you is that physical contact, sexual foreplay is helpful before getting into intercourse.

I wanted to know if the woman can get orgasms on her wedding night? If she does not get orgasm on her wedding night, is that normal? Is it because her husband did not stimulate her? Or is it that there can not be an orgasm during the first time of sex?
Answer
Yes, a woman can get an orgasm at any time of her sexual relationship, either in the first day of her wedding or the hundredth day. It is mainly psychological if you don't get an orgasm, it is not an organic problem. My advice to you is to spend more time with sexual foreplay before the intercourse and concentrate on that only. Don't think about other issues at that time.

My fiance and I have agreed that we will delay having babies for one year after marriage. What is the best type of contraception to use in this case?
Thanks
Answer
Use the least harmful contraceptive that leaves no prolonged effect, like: coitus interruptus, the use of condomns by the husband, the use of vaginal pessaries, or following the safe period (no intercourse from day 11 to day 18 of the period).
I advise you to use two methods of the above mentioned together.
Do not use the pills or the loop.

I have a friend that is marrying her daughter at a very young age (she is 16). Medically, is there a problem in young girls getting married?
Answer
Thank you for your question. It is a good one. Actually, it is not advisable to marry so young, but she is already married now, and there should be no harm medically, but do not push her on pregnancy so soon. Becuase at this age her ovaries are young too.

Translation: I am a 28 year-old girl about to get married and I am worried about what I heard from my friends on their first wedding night concerning excessive bleeding and tearing etc.. What would you advise me to do to avoid any of these?
Answer
First of all, congratulations. Take it easy. You seem to be too terrified. Have you ever heard that a bride died on her wedding day? You should look at it from the nice side, that it is a natural nice relationship (non-avoidable). There is nothing you can do to make it less harmful, because it should not be harmful. Like I said before, much of the foreplay and physical contact with your husband before the intercourse will help lubricate the vagina, and make it easier.

Yes, you can delay your period safely, and get married happily. You can take MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE tabs of 5 mg dose, one tablet twice daily, starting from one week before your period is due, and carry on until you want your period again.

Hi
I have difficult periods. I get cramps that sometimes keep me in bed for a day or two and I can't go to work. A friend told me that this will go away when I get married. Is this true and why?
Thank you
Answer
There are so many causes for dysmenorrhea. Mostly it is physiological, hormonal dependent, and they vanish after marriage. But if the pain is so intractable and does not disappear, you should consult your gynocologist for that to exclude any organic problem.

If I want to get pregnant in the beginning of my marriage, do I have to raise my legs after sex to keep the sperm in? I am married now for one month, but after sex the sperm always comes out. Will I still get pregnant?
Answer
This is a rumor with no scientific basis. Yes, you can still get pregnant because no matter the amount you see coming out there is still some amount in, which are enough to get you pregnant.

I am a 25 year old non married male. I pray 5 times, keep regular fasts on average 2 times a week but still its hard to control my nafas regarding sex. As i have read that its ok to masturbate than to masturbate rather than engaging in fornication so on average i masturbate once a week. My concern is that i have erection mostly all night and sometime during day too without any reason and i fear when i will get married i will come early and not please my wife. Because my normal response time to ejaculation is very small. Please help and guide me.
Answer
Masturbation does not necessarily lead to fast ejaculation in the future, as far as I know. But, if you still face it after marriage, I advise you to consult a urologist. Any way, Islamonline.net will lead you to the consultant concerned.

Asalamualykum.
Dear Sir, my wife has not had her period which was due 10 days ago, She is not on any pill. We did a blood test last week but it was negative, Is there an outside chance that she may be pregnant?
Answer
Ten days after a missed period should give you a positive pregnancey test. Wait another week, repeat the test, if it is still negative, look for other reasons for the delay. Sometimes stressful situation, some drugs, breast feeding, etc can all lead to delay period without pregnancy.

After my sister got married for two months, she got a very bad urinary infection. Her doctor told her that this is common in women in the beginning of marriage. I am getting married soon. What can I do to prevent this from happening to me too?
Answer
Sometimes it is not avoidable. This is called "the honey moon cystitis". But drinking plenty of fluids always, may prevent urinary tract infection.
Any way, not necessarily all women get it.

If you are using tampons, then definitly you have injured your hymen. If you want to make sure go and check at a gynecologist.
