This debate is raging in islamic internet forums around the world - on one side we have people who say, the Prophet PBUH was tolerant and peaceful and Islam is peaceful so why should we raise hue and cry over this issue, we should be peaceful and cool about it too. The other side really does'nt have answers - what is your opinion?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messengerof peace. All the methods of expressing our distaste of the ugly cartoons that were drawn of our Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) have been peaceful and forgiving and comply with the Danish laws. Peace and forgiveness does not mean we should be silent toward any ridicule or insult against our religion or religious values.

Question
As Salamu alaikum,
As we all know the outrage the 12 drawing of the Prohet has caused around the world, now the France paper has also published it. what can be done to stop this from moving farther on? Also can we pray for punishement for the people who published it?
Answer
Campaigns to vilify and disparage Islam has been found in many places and times. People who hate our religion and our Beloved Prophet wait for a spark of mischief to take advantage of and channel their hatred through. We do not answer such behavior except through civilized means.

Question
Is it eonugh that apolgy by words?
Answer
Yes it is enough if it is accompanied by respect and official recognition of Islam as well as helping build a mosque in the capital Copenhagen to help give a correct image of Islam and Muslims because a lot of the media try to promote an incorrect image of Islam.

Question
Unfourtunatly newspapers of other european countries have re-printed the cartoons. They say that this is 'freedom of expression'. But in fact it is ‘freedom of insulting’. They claim that this is the freedom of democracy. At the other hand they say that muslim counties should be democratic and that muslims should follow them as an example.
When some people in muslim countries are against western influence the are getting charged or jailed on the order of the west.
After this all, how can they expect now that muslims will beleive and follow the western democracy ?
Answer
This issue cannot be categorized under anything but the insult of our sacred and holy beliefs which is prohibited in all countries. Yet, those who are hateful insist on forcing it into the category of freedom of expression although this does freedom of expression an injustice.

Question
Salam Aleykom wa Rahmatollah wa Barakatoh,
I would like to ask our honorable Guest the following questions :
1/ in your opinion, what are the main goals (declared and undeclared) of the publishing of the caricatures by the danish newspaper Jyllands Posten ? does this newspaper follow the line of some political party ?
2/ what was the position of the danish public towards the muslim community before/after the begin of the boycott ? did it change ?
3/ In your opinion, what should muslims in Europe do, so that their religion doesn't get bashed daily by the mass media in the name of freedom of speech ?
Baraka Allah fikom,
wa assalam aleykom wa rahmatollah wa barakatoh
Answer
He announced reasons are that this is a bold approach to issues that have not been discussed about Islam and Muslims under the pretense of freedom of speech. Yet, the unannounced reasons are clear: vilifying Muslims in their most sacred beliefs. No specific party or organization are behind these cartoons but the extremist right wing parties are definitely taking advantage of this.
As for the reaction of the Danish people, overall they condemn the cartoon drawings and the lack of wisdom from the Danish government in dealing with the problem from the beginning.

Question
If you realise the truth of the prophet, what harm does someone making fun of it cause? It dosn't change YOUR faith, or the faith of any true believer, it's just an expresion of thouse who don't believe... and dosn't islam teach we should respect even unbeliefs?
Answer
Muslims' faith in their Prophet and their deep love and respect for him are what move them to defend and reject any false accusation or ridicule that is put upon our Prophet, this is done in the framework of our religion which encourages people to call to Allah's path with wisdom and good advice. Islam persuades us to respect every human being no matter his or her color, religion, or race, however
our respect toward him or her does not mean that we will permit ridicule or insult of our holy and sacred beliefs.
