Question
Can we say that French Muslim suffer under the interference of Tantawi and Iraqi's. Didn't the French government use inquisition techniques in the so called dialogue around Hijab , why don't we keep violence as an option ( against the perpetrators and not innocent people).I come from a bad country and I am prepared to die if it can prevent France from being bad for the next generation.

Answer
Sheikh Tantawi's fatwa has been seen in the Muslim French society in different two ways. First, as interference that should be ended and it should be the role of the French Federation of the Islamic organizations to decide about such issues. The second opinion considers Sheikh Tantawi's fatwa as a consultative opinion that should not be imposed on the Muslim French society.

Question
Can not you see the overlapping between the domestic and oversees agenda in both Iraq and France and what do you think about the impacts of that overlapping?

Answer
This shameful action; the abduction of the two French journalists, does not do any help for the
Muslim Community in France and especially for the hijab issue. Until now, all the Muslims from different backgrounds declare their refusal to such an action and show their commitment towards the national cohesion.

I hope that the citizens in France do not mix between what happened in Iraq and the life of Muslims in France. As a responsible activist, I'm afraid of any negative impacts that may take place after the abductions of the French journalists in Iraq. We already face many misconceptions and deviations during the work of Stasi committee and this was even before the issuing the hijab ban law. I hope that the French people, Muslims and non-Muslims, overcome this crisis.

Question
What are the different scenarios that you expect in the coming hours concerning the abductions? how can this affect the hijab issue in France?

Answer
As a Muslim I can not despair, I hope that they will be released. I do not expect something rather than that .These two French journalists were doing their duty. I hope that the abductors will not ignore the appeals that they received from the different countries across the world.

Time for going back to school is approaching in France. The Muslims in France especially the Muslim Women will continue their efforts to limit the restrictions of the hijab ban law.

They will try to find compromises and to show their respect for the law. Regardless all these incidents, I hope that the French government and people will understand the religious obligatory of hijab for the Muslim women who choose to act according to their religious prescriptions.

Question
Respected Scholar of Islam,

In my knowledge, I see in Europe most of the sisters use Hijab just like a fashion but not exactly what is wanted from our religion. So banning hijab in France is a torture (Azab)from Allah Subhanahu Taala but not from the France Govt. If we follow 100% Deen, Allah will help us from all kind of difficulties which we are facing throughout the world. Is it? or what is the exact reason behind it?

Answer
I consider that as your personal opinion, but as a French Muslim, I can assure that there are real Islam and Muslims in France. On the contrary, generally in Europe there are positive trends towards religion. Moreover, the children of the Muslim society in France are learning and knowing about Islam. They are trying to understand and practice it. So they are really Muslims with a French culture. Although they are brining up with their western culture, they are Muslims by birth and practice. We are working on creating a place for their religion under the Western sky.

I think the real reason of the law of the hijab ban is the recent visibility of the Islam in France which raises some fears.

Question
How do you consider the abduction of the french journalists in Iraq ?

Answer
As I'm a Muslim, I condemn such an action which does not do any service to the Muslims in the French Society.
I 'm sharing the families of the two hostages their fears and worry. We are asking for their immediate unconditional release and we consider the law of secularism in France is an internal national French affair.

1) I saw may muslim women do not wear Hijab even there is no any ristriction on them from any socity or from government. What is your message for them?

3) What do you feel the reason behind baning Hijab in France?

Thank you and Jazakallah Khair.
Answer
Wa Alikum Assalam ,

I think that Islam is an accepted religion in France. There are a large number of Muslims in France. Even the Muslim Children are learning about Islam. Although all the challenges I really optimistic about the future. Concerning the hijab issue it was the visibility of Islam that raises some fears.

Question
Do not you see that it is fair enough in a secular country like France to ban the religious signs in the public schools only ?

Answer
I think that the definition of the Secularism in the French state indicate the neutrality of the state towards the religion. I believe in the liberal secularism which accept the "other" regardless his different background and not in the secularism that exclude the "other".

The aim of the public school is to prepare the students to be the future citizens and for the same reason, it is difficult to imagine how any individual can deny all his own religious and ideological beliefs before the School gate. On the contrary, in the public school they should teach citizenship as well as the respect of the differences.

Question
Apparently, the kidnapping of the two journalists in Iraq does harm to your efforts. Do you think that some anti-hijab activists might be behind the scene? Have you made any media efforts to distinguish between Islam and torturing or murdering prisoners -and civilians in general?

Answer
I think towards all these appeals from all over the world especially from the religious scholars and institutions such as Al-Azhar and the Society of Muslim Scholars in Iraq ,these abductors should response with respect if they really have human and religious principles.

Iraq, now is under occupation, it’s a divided country and suffering from the chaos. Sure, these abductors can be gangs that use religion as a mean for materialistic and political interests.

As a responsible activist, our role is to inform the Muslim society in France in order to protect them from any possible illusions that can be caused by any provocations and the biased media.

Our role is to confront the stereotypes that caused by this media especially against the Muslim Women.

Question
The Hijab issue should not change in France. That country has choosen be seperate church from state, period. There is a lot of wisdom in that. I don't understand why Muslims cannot deal with this issue. They should know better that people that call themselves Muslims will act out violently and hurt others just because a woeman cannot wear a scarf around her head. I don't see jews across the globe or Christians trying to be violent because they too cannot wear religious stuff on the streets of France. I think you should either move as the Qur'an says if you cannot practice your religion or be quiet. You cannot have your cake and eat it too - France as a country has made a choice. You can march all day protesting, but intelligent minds know this makes others want to enforce the ban even harder. Do you think you should move if you cannot practice your religion, or do you feel you should cry about it and allow fanatics to cause violence because they pity you?

Answer
I think that we should refer again to the definition of secularism in the dictionary as well as in the real life. Secularism is the neutrality of state and it dose not discriminate against any sector. I think the French model of secularism suits the Muslims as long as it does not defend any kind of extremism. There is secular extremism also. Islam is a religion of peace and values, it motivate the people to respect the human being and the animals. Our religion encourages us to respect the law in the Muslim and Non-Muslim countries. I think that Islam was unfairly accused of violence. I call every Muslim and Non-Muslim to go back to the original sources of Islam to learn more about the values of love, peace and respect of the human beings.

Question
Are there any special arrangements concerning the international hijab day in France ?

Answer
In France, the 15 th March freedoms committee has been launched. This committee took upon its shoulders the duty of informing the Muslim community and the veiled Muslim girls with the hijab ban law and its details. This effort has been already started before going back to school and it will continue. Sure we encourage any initiative that serves the same aim which is to support the girls and enforce their right of choice.

Question
Do not you think that the french right wing has been given a real chance now to emphasize their attitudes against hijab and Muslims?

Answer
I think that France is a country of the human rights and freedoms. We really feel that this law is oppressing the Muslims in France but no one can deny that Muslims in France enjoy, relatively, the right to practice their religion. The Muslim community may suffer now from some kind of instability and it's a matter of time and we should observe fully recognition of the Islamic religion in France which the second religion there.
