Question How do you guarantee that a lot of British Muslim from different back grounds are aware of the MCB's schedule and are participating in it? Do you promote Ramadan's schedule on some university campuses in UK?
Answer We have a huge number of visitors to our website. We publicise our activities and disseminate information through this.

In addition to this, we send information to our affiliates by post and email. We also have newsletters that informs the general public.

This year, the MCB has launched a Ramadan website. This allows organisations to publicise ramadan activities and events that are taking place across Britain.

Question Salam Brother,

What are the challenges facing British Muslims during Ramadan?
Answer There are many challenges in various areas from schools, universities to the work place. However, the Muslim community is facing and tackling them head on.

The MCB has produced guidelines for schools and the work place so that these are met and overcome. You can find out more on our website:

http://www.mcb.org.uk/

Furthermore, MCB encourages greater engagement in the life of Britain. Through dialogue with authorities and colleagues, these challenges are overcome.

This year, `Eid in the Square will take place on Saturday the 11th of October 2008, insha’ Allah.

We hope to see you then!

Question How can young Muslim students outside contribute positively to the British society (as the MCB is based in London) would you please help?
Answer MCB’s office is based in London, like any organisation, it needs a base. However, our work is not only in London.

The youth committee will be having a media seminar which will be taking place in Birmingham in October. Our next youth committee meeting, also in October, will be taking place in Manchester, insha’ Allah.

We had a national road show where we looked at ‘Beyond the Terror Narrative’.

We are very happy to work with people from all across Britain. If you would like to get involved then do contact us mujibul@mcyouth.org.uk or admin@mcb.org.uk

Question It seems that you are very active young British Muslim, tabarak Allah, and a teacher at the same time…How do you manage your time to do all of that together and do you think many Muslim who are encountering London's busy life can do that?
Answer First of all, it is only with the help and mercy of Allah (swt).

Secondly, I have always had a strong and dynamic group of people working with me. My deep and sincere du’a and thanks go to everyone.

Thirdly, it is about time management, which is always a juggling act. Sometimes you do well, other times, you can only improve on.

Lastly, life and our stay in this world is too short.

I think Muslims are doing a lot and can do much more. It only requires being organised and hard working.

Question Do you think that engaging young British Muslims more in a fruitful activities (like the MCB's activities) may defeat the extremism which is claimed to be spreading among Muslim youth in UK?
Answer There are a few things with this question which is disagreeable.

Firstly, there is no common definition of extremism. What does extremism mean? Many people will have different definitions.

Secondly, the idea of extremism spreading is a misnomer. There is no credible study which points to this.

MCB’s message has always been working for the common good and engagement in British life in all areas including political.

Question What is the Muslim Safety Forum (MSF) and how does it contribute to the safety of British Muslims?
Answer We work with security services in the UK including the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Home Office and other agencies on issues concerning Muslims.

MSFs work areas include Counter Terrorism, Islamaphobia and the Training and Development of the police service relating to Muslims.

We have worked on reporting and recording of Islamaphobia as a crime. We produced a third party reporting pack, and have campaigned for Islamaphobic incidents to be recorded as such and not any other. We will launch an Islamaphobia campaign soon, insha’ Allah.

We are ensuring police officers are trained in working with the Muslim community. There has been a successful pilot training project where police officers visited the mosque and learnt about Muslims. We plan to develop on this.

On Counter Terrorism we have had continuing discussions on better Policing tactics and the impact on the community; working with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) ensuring the language used by prosecutors is not inflammatory or confusing. This resulted in the CPS publishing clearer examples of what is prosecuted and what is not. We are pursuing unjust cases of counter terrorism related arrests.

Question Could you please give us some information on the Muslim Student Awards and your role in it?
Answer This was set up to recognise and celebrate the huge achievements young Muslim students (both male and female) were making.
