what if my skin is prone to pimples so i do really hav so many scars caused by pimples that clotted. what can i do to stop it.......................
Answer
If you are using makeup products, you should stop using those chemicals and perfumes which contain alcohol and use Sebamed soap or creams containing salicylic acid and resorcin.
As for the second part of your question about scar formation, you should use an antibiotic containing tetracyline or doxicycline orally in the form of capsules. Good luck.

Question
Assalamu Alaikum. I am a 19 yr old female. I have this problem that the tips of my fingers are always cracked. I consulted a doctor for it who prescribed me not to touch soap. I was also prescribed to use some medicines, which included Vitamin E, but with no improvement. Can you please suggest me with anything that will help? Jazak Allahu Khair. Ma'assalam.
Answer
Wa Alaikum Alsalam. You have a skin disorder known as contact dematitis from touching soaps and detergents. You MUST use gloves when dishwashing. You can also use moisturizing creams daily such as Bepanthene. Unfortunately this kind of skin disorder is chronic, do not lose the faith, because this case is not as serious as you might think.

Question
how can you get rid of pigmentation on cheeks and also does wuduu require any special care to be taken care of skin?
Answer
As for Wuduu, it is the best way for clensing our skin on a regularly basis. This is a very healthy habit, or heavenly law, which requires of man to be clean.
As for pigmentation, this is called acne-rosecia. You must avoid chemicals, direct sun rays, and large amounts of tea. If you have stomach pain, you must see a gastroenterologist in order to investigate this case thoroughly. As for treatment for pigmentation, you can use one kind of sun screen in the morning and light steroid-containing cream such as eumovate at bedtime. You also must use doxicyclin 100 mg once daily. In sha' Allah, this will cure it.
Good luck.

Question
There are two light black spots appeared on one of my relative (lady) face (each on both the cheeks)long before (since 3-4 years before). Some time get very faint/pale/light and some time it appear little dark (light black)again, and now there is a sort of very very small wrinkles are appearing some times on that spots. Consulted lot of good Consultants here, they gave some medicines. For few period it get very very faint and then appeares again, she keeps applying those tubes for long period too. But no fruitful result yet and now a days those spots are again as it is and seems to be looking little expanding. Pls advise and thank you. JazakumAllah khair.
Answer
I think that your relative has dark spots from sun exposure. This is called melasama. This disorder is different from freckles. Both of the two cases are influenced by sun exposure but the freckles are congenital and can not be treated completely with medicine, but we can use some medical products such as sun screens and lightening cream (esomed facial cream).
About melasma, it can be cured completely by using sun screen and hydroquinone plus retinoic acid cream at bedtime every other day. In sha Allah, you will be cured.

Question
My skin no good. It very oily. I find rubbing my skin everyday with a towel keeps my skin smooth and clean. However it produces more oil. Good and bad thing. Good because skin looks younger and cannot see wrinkles well with lots of oil. Also, have smooth skin most time. Bad because it does produce a zit or two. Bad also because my skin has scar or two from rubbing. Question. How do I change the chemistry of my skin from oily to middle road skin? No possible maybe. Well I won't stop rubbing my skin because dry skin will gather thus more zits down the road. Any ideas the prophet (pbuh) may have had?
Answer
The oily skin you have is a result of hyperactivity of sebacous gland (oil producing glands in the skin). In this case, it is related to the induction of some hormones such as steroids and sex hormones. This situation starts from the adolesence phase in order to obtain near normal skin, you must do some lab tests such as dhea-s, prolactine t3 and t4. If the result is normal, you can use anti-dandruff shampoo and to avoid having pimples, you can use a medicine containing antibiotic such as clarythromicin 500 mg once daily three days weekly for five weeks, and you should continue this medication under the care of a local specialist in your area. As for how you can change your skin from oily to normal, as doctors we can not perform such a feat with medication because this is a chromosomal characteristic of your skin. Allah, after all, is the one who cures all..

Question
Salam,
I easily get break outs, I try to hide it with make-up but still it shows...what can i do to keep my face not greasy and stop pimples?
Answer
Before using make-up to hide the pimples, you MUST treat them with soap and peel-causing (exfoliating) creams. If the pimples you have are infected, you must use oral antibiotics and avoid rubbing you face. As much as you can avoid stressful situations as this will worsen the condition of your skin. I think this disorder will be cured in the near future IF you follow a very careful program as described above geared towards treating you. Good luck.

Question
Peace be upon you and thanks for your time today,
Does food really have anything to do with acne? Some say iodine in your system (from shell food or too much fish) can cause a flare up or eating too much dairy which has hormones, perhaps chocolate...what is the story doctor? I'm 40 years old and still have very minor acne (a pimple once a week or two). It's minor but by the time I'm 60 I'll look like a baseball glove because it does cause damage to my skin. Does it ever end Doc, acne?
Answer
As for the effect of food on pimples, it is an old theory that was never proven 100%. It probably does have effect, but not completely. If you feel that chocolate causes you pimples, you can reduce, or even stop eating choclates, but I think you have oily skin or active oil glands in your skin.
About the damage you mentioned, this is a side effect of acne. To treat it you must use medicine containing salicylic acid and resorcin with oral antibiotic, do not worry, your face won't look like a baseball glove, trust me-I am a doctor.

I have recently developed dark patches on my face, especially on the chin, with very coarse facial hair. How can I fix that?
Answer
You porobably have a hormonal disorder. So, I advise you to make the necessary lab tests, such as FSH, LH, free testesterone, prolactine, DHEA-S and pulvic ultrasound. I also advise you to consult with a detmatologist in your area as this requires the attention of a specialist closely.

Question
Assalamu'Alikum:
I hope you can answer my question, by Allah's (SWT) grace.
I developed a red spot on the tip of my nose. I went to the skin doctor who confirmed a negative to skin cancer. He has given me a cream to rub on "locoid ointment" to no avail.
I once had what you call a chemical peel, where some chemical is rubbed on to the skin so that it removes the top layer. This I did to remove acne scars. I don't know whether this is a contributor.
Shukran
Answer
I do not belive the chemical peel is the cause, because your case seems te be some kind of acne. So you must avoid exposure to direct sun rays and use light steroid cream at bedtime.
The red spot you have might be some type of blood vessles dilation. In order to rule out this possibility, you must refer this case to a dermatologist in you area.

Question
I want to lighten my skin color naturally, can you please help me?
Answer
Medically, we can not change or lighten the color of human skin with any kind of medicine. But in certain case, we might use medications to restore skin to its natural color, not the other way around.
In some countries, dark skin is very much desirable, may I suggest visiting some of these countries, perhaps you will not feel the need to lighten your skin color.
Best of luck.

What natural things can one put on his skin to improve it, especially the face? I heard lemon or oranges? Is that true? Thank you
Answer
Generally speaking, naturally grown fruits or vegetables are not harmful, but prior to using such fruits, you must try them on small spots of your skin to avoid having a negative reaction.
Personally speaking, I have nothing against using natural treatments or people who use or prescribe such treatments.

Question
Ive never suffered from spots when I was a teenager, im now a woman in my 20's and now im suffering from acne on my face and back. Which make me feel very self conscious, so much so when I go out i put foundation on my face to feel better. I've been given a topical cream which contains benzoyl peroxide, which i put on my face every night. But the scars are the worst as brown skin scar easily. Why is it that im suffering from acne now? I sometimes have extremly greasy skin, then very dry skin, is this what casuses the spots to occur?Ive also read that taking the Pill will reduce my spots, is this recommendable?
Answer
Acne is not directly related to certaine age, perhaps correlated, but nor directly related. In my clinic, I have seen children under 10 years and adults over 40 years that have acne. So, to make sure of the cause of your acne, you must refer to previous answers in which we recommended taking some lab exams. As for the "Pill", this kind of medication must be taken under the supervision of a physician because it is a hormonal pill and can have dramatic effect on one health, especially females. Good Luck.
