Do you recommend drugs that decrease weight? Could you give us a brief explanation of how it works?
Answer
I do not recommend drugs except for certain cases such as in severe cases of obesity or when other trials to loose weight have not been effective. Some of these drugs work by suppressing the appetite, some by decreasing the amount of fat absorbed from food we eat and at the same time they may prevent the absorption of some vitamins and important nutrients.

My husband was following up with a dietician, he was allowed to eat fats but not allowed to eat bread at all. Is this healthy? He lost weight, but gained it afterwards. May be because he started eating a lot again? But also may be because the diet was not physiologic, right?
Answer
Eating too much fat is not healthy, however, eating carbohydrate-free food is not healthy either. He should calculate the number of calories/day he needs to consume and to consume less than this number each day within a balanced diet. When he finishes dieting he needs to learn how to eat what he only what he needs and no more. Exercise during and after the diet is mandatory.

I’m a mother of two, and I don’t have time to go to gym, can I loose weight without doing any exercise? Can the housework do the job?

Believe me it is not just you who needs to go for a daily walk, it is important for your children as well. Try to take them shopping to buy your fruits and vegetables daily. This is good for all of you. Try to go on a healthy diet in the mean time by starting your meals with a piece of fruit half an hour before you eat and then water then finish your vegetables before any other food on your plate.

Salam Alaykom,
I was 60 kilos before my pregnancy and after delivery and post delivery care, I am 87 kilos. It is now very difficult for me to move around and if i try to exercise i get out of breath easily. Also since I am breast feeding, I cannot go for a crash diet . I have tried water therapy (They say we need to drink a litre of water first thing in the morning), but is this effective? Also some people say honey in warm water every morning is good for weight reduction. Is this true? If yes, what type of honey should we buy? Also I heard that while breast feeding , we will normally loose weight, but i dont see any change. Can you inform me how I should go about weight reduction. With an infant at home, it is not practical for me to go to a gym or spend an hour over exercises, daily. But I am finding it difficult with this weight as I tend to get back ache when I stand for long time.
Can you please suggest a diet program/product for me which will not affect my baby and will let me lose the baby fat I put on.

First of all, you should eat well so you can feed your baby well. The type of honey does not matter.
You need to cut down on your calorie intake by eating everything in moderation, only eat one third of the amount of food on your plate that you normally eat, cut down on the amount of fat you are eating and only consume one third of the amount you usually eat and drink lots of water.
Remember your baby needs to go out for daily walks with you for at least an hour. Use a baby carriage for him and take him for a walk. Start by 15 minutes and increase it gradually.
Focus on fruits an vegetables not baked goods and remember to drink 3 cups of skimmed milk daily .
