What is your position on the stance that the United States has taken on the conflict between Pakistan and India?
Answer
We regard the present position of the United States as being tilted towards India. The U.S. position is encouraging India to increase its hegemonistic attitude towards the surrounding countries around India. It also encourages India and its ambitions to become the mini-superpower of the region by controlling the sea lanes of the Indian Ocean including the Arabian Sea and Gulf. This Indian attitude is detrimental to world peace. It is occupying unforcibly the 90% Muslim majority state of Kashmir through the use of force and fraud.
The present tilt towards India on the U.S. part encourages India to continue in its aggressive designs and hegemonistic attitude towards the region of the Gulf, which is against the promotion of peace. To consider India as a natural ally and to consider China as a natural rival will start another scenario of cold war. We think that the Americans should not start this thype of conflict in the coming millennium of conformity and peace.

Question
The Jamaat-i-Islami has been criticized as being elitist, that it directs its message not to the mass of the population, but to those already in government, intellectuals, and students. Has there been any real efforts to include the mass of Pakistanis in the political process by the Jamaat?
Answer
Our message is no doubt a message of educating people including the masses and the intelligentia. Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) said, " Verily, I have been sent as an educator." We want to create a group of intelligent and educated workers through whom this message can be transmitted in a rational way, but we never ignored the common people and general masses. Through verbal messages, preaching, meetings and arranging public meetings, we have been conveying the message to the common people.
For the past 25 years, they have entered into a new era and now we have got branches all over the country even in the rural areas. We have got sister organizations among labor and farmers. Three years ago, we launched a campaign of registering members and we registered 4 million new members.
Jamaat-e-Islami is no more an elitist party. This is a mainstream party that focuses on reaching everyone, including the common people. During the past few years, we have launched movements and mass agitation through our movements. The Benazir government and Nawaz Sharif government had to go. The streets of Pakistan are largely controlled by Jamaat-e-Islami. This would not have been possible if the emphasis of Jamaat-e-Islami had been limited only to the elitist people of the country.

Question
Assalamu Alaikum,
What do you think are the courses of U.S. South Asia degenerating relationships? And what suggestion would you like to offer for such relationships to come back to normalcy, particularly US/Pakistan relation?
Answer
Pakistan is an important country of 140 million people. Its deeply strategic position is such that it is the courtyard of the Gulf area and it is in the proximity of Central and West Asia as well as South Asia. This is the only Muslim nuclear power that is a source of strength and pride for the Muslim Ummah. It has got sympathizers throughout the world. It is the torch-bearer of the universal Islamic message. This cannot be ignored by the United States of America and it is in the interest of the U.S.A. as well as Pakistan to normalize their relationship.
The U.S. should use its influence in the resolution of the Kashmiri conflict, which is the major impediment in the normalization of the relationship between Pakistan and India. The U.S. should change its policy of tiltedness towards India and it should use its influence by bringing peace in Afghanistan and for this purpose, it should cooperate with Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and other parties who have got influence in Afghanistan. THis can be done through communication and engagement and not through disengagement and application of sanctions.
Because of the present American attitude and their application of sanctions against Pakistan, it is said that Pakistan is the most sanctioned ally of the United States. It is not just on the part of the United States to treat its allies by applying sanctions.

Question
After about fifty years of the death of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, what happened to his ideas and thoughts which he struggled a lot to achieve it, and Pakistan is one of his Jihad, where is the position of his thoughts in the old and new generations?
Answer
Allama Muhammad Iqbal gave the idea of Pakistan as a state where the Muslims will shape their individual and collective lives according to the teachings of Qur'an and Sunnah. The Muslims of the Subcontinent of India and Pakistan waged a struggle to achieve this country and after they were successful in getting independence and a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent, the control of the newly founded country of Pakistan came at the hands of a minute British-trained elite who refused to shape the country according to Islamic principles and the inspiration of the common masses. There is a constant struggle between the secular and the Islamic forces. Insha Allah, in this struggle, the Islamic forces will be able to give a true Islamic leadership to the country so that all the Islamic resources can be put at the service of Islam and for the creation of an Islamic polity and an egalitarian Islamic community.

Question
Asalaamu alaykoum,
Jazakallah khairin for your struggle against Indian aggression and attempts to liberate occupied Cashmir. Also, thanks to Islamonline for this great Internet resource.
The U.S. continues to state that it has a right to attack moudjahideen bases in Afghanistan. What will you do to confront this serious threat and defend the Oumma?
Wasalaam.
Answer
The U.S. missile attack on Afghanistan and Sudan was condemned throughout the world as a blatant aggression and breach of the international norms. This was against the sovreignity of Sudan and Afghanistan and the airspace of Pakistan was also violated. It is not in the longterm U.S. interest to continue with this aggressive and hegemonistic attitude against the smaller nations of the world. The U.S. cannot become a world power through material development only if it is not equipped with moral power. We will, Insha Allah, defend the Muslim ummah through the upholding of moral principles and truth.

Question
Assalamu alaikum.
My question is concerning your position vis-a-vis the Taliban and their continuous opression and denying women rights in education. What do you think of that?
Answer
Education is the right of Muslims, both men and women. It is not only a right, it is an obligation for all Muslims. To deny education from the female Muslim community is to block the way of obligatory Islamic duty. We have advised the taliban that they can prescribe proper Islamic uniform and dress and they can change the cirricula but they cannot deny the right of education.

Question
Aselaamoaleikum-
Muslims in the United States have made great strides in becoming more politically powerful. But, we are constantly being slandered by Zionist Jewish extremist organizations that are anti-Muslim. What should we do against these anti-Islamic groups?
Answer
The message of Islam should be conveyed to all the people of the United States of America, especially the downtrodden section of her citizens. Muslims should actively participate in all fields of life. They should work hard in the field of education, information, business and they should communicate with the nerve centers of the State. They should present their message with wisdom in a ration and objective way. They should be proactive and not reactive.

Question
Assalamu alaikum Dear Qazi Hussein.
I remember when I used to be a student, the impact of Mawdudi (Rahimahu Allah) and The Jamaa on our thinking and our Islamic movement here in Tunisia, before the repression.
My question is, where do you stand now, after the coup d'etat of Musharraf, and what is the political prospect in Pakistan? second, how do you evaluate the relationship: America-Muslim world?
Answer
The opportunity of military intervention was provided to Gen. Musharraf by the failure of the Sharif and Bhutto governments. Because of the unpopularity of both the previous leaders and their un-Islamic and selfish behavior, the people of Pakistan came to the streets under the guidance of Jamaat-e-Islami. Gen. Musharraf's intervention and rule is temporary. They will have to go within 2 years, Insha Allah. There is a power vacuum which can be faired by the Islamic forces headed by Jamaat-e-Islami. Please pray for us and convey our message of brotherhood to the Muslim brothers who are facing oppression in Tunisia.

Question
Assalam-o-Alaikum,
Qazi Sahib, with reference to a last visit of President Clinton to the sub-continent, it is apparently revealed that the US policies has been unbalancly bowed towards India. Is this not a clear massage to Pakistan that she should now look forward in making her (economic, foreign & other ) policies undependently?
Specialy it should be created a new era of relations towards China & Iran.
Answer
I agree with you. We should be economically self-sufficient and we should follow an economic policy of self-reliance. The government of Pakistan should not be eager to borrow more money and to solve its economic problems through increasing financial burden on the coming generations. Because of the policy of borrowing from outside countries, we have already curtailed our independence in foreign as well as internal policies.

Question
Why is it that Jammat Islaami, which has been in Pakistan for such a long time, has not been able to educate the masses especially women in Islam? One of the many things you always hear about Pakistan is that it has lot of barailwis(grave worshipers) I know that other countries have this problem but in Pakistan it is big problem. Look at the Pakistanis that come to America their education in Islam is so weak that they forget that they are Muslims. If you talk to a average Pakistani Muslim he does not know A-Z of Islam? What is your organization doing to change that? Thankyou
Answer
We have launched a campaign of imparting education and proper understanding of Islam through trained teachers who will take special classes during the time between slaul-Thur and Asr in the masajid in Pakistan. We will, Insha Allah, try to spread a large web of masajid maktab. The basic objective of such masajid is to impart the true understanding of Islam as a way of life to the general masses and to the children in their early age.

Question
If the Jamaat-i-Islami were to be elected into power in Pakistan, what guarantees are there that the Jamaat would not become just as corrupt as previous governments?
Answer
There is no corruption in Jamaat-e-Islami and the proof is that no single person of Jamaat-e-Islami has been accused by any government for any charge of corruption. Jamaat-e-Islami has a system inside its organization that no person who is committed any irregularity can hold any psoition of responsibility in the Jamaat. There is an internal system of accountability and this is the guarantee that if Jamaat-e-Islami comes to power, its workers and its leadership will offer themselves for greater sacrifices. They will not enter into the presidential, prime ministerial or governor houses. They will live like common people along with the honest and effecient workers of Jamaat-e-Islami. They will continue their struggle for a just Islamic society. Merit will be observed strictly. Everything will be done according to principles. The organization of Jamaat-e-Islami will look after the conduct of its leadership and workers. We consider ourselves answerable to Allah and to the people.
