How do you explain the recent escalation with Israel? And why now?

The recent operation is a completion to the resistance operations which have been taking place since the invasion of Lebanon. We always said that the timing of the operation has something to do with the conditions on the ground and it is not a dictation from outside, it is not a matter of escalation or a lull, it is a continuos resistance against the occupation.

Do you think it is feasible for Israel to fight on two fronts? Will it allow the escalation to become a long-term one on the Lebanese front while the situation continues to go up in flames in the Occupied Territories? I think that the main reason that prevent Israel from launching a large scale attack against lebanon with or without a pretext is the Israeli fear of the readiness and the strength of Hizbullah for any retaliation to any large scale attack, in addition to the possible losses that Israel might suffer. We believe that Israel, which faces the Intifada in Palestine, and America, which wants to make an achievement after the failure in Afghanistan and the current problems in Iraq, will be reluctant to start open a new front for confrontation with a serious force.

Many people got the impression that, with Israel's withdrawal from the South, Hizbullah will no longer have a reason to be, that the fight is now over. How would you comment on the current situation? And why do you think this happened?

After the Israeli defeat in may 2000 and the withdrawal of its army from southern Lebanon because of the resistance, part of the Lebanese land in the Shabaa farms and elsewhere remained under occupation and Lebanese detainees remained in Israeli prisons. Israeli violations against Lebanese airspace continued and reached 7000 times. Also, the landmines remained in their place and Lebanon to this day can't use all its water in the Wazzani and the Hasbani rivers. On Lebanese spoil there are more than 400,000 Palestinian refugees whose problems were not solved. Israel still poses a strategic threat to Lebanon. All these reasons prompt the Lebanon's Hizbullah to be on high alert to confront Israeli threats.

The US, Israel and its allies tries to portray Israel as the victim of 'Islamic terrorism', especially after the 911 attack.
They shrewdly uses the attack to gain world sympathy and thus given free hand to deal with the groups they consider as terrorist group. That includes Hezbollah and Hamas as well as recently Chechen rebels in Chechnya.
How do you find your organization coping with this new perception by the US and Israel?

We differentiate between resistance and terrorism and we believe that resistance is a duty against any form of occupation. We have no fear of Israeli–Americans misleading campaigns, we are launching a campaign to expose the American and Israeli lies and we have established dialogue with intellectual and media persons and institutions with varying ideas and opinions on the issue. We remain firmly on our ground of beliefs yet, unlike the case with the "powerful," we remain open to dialogue.

Hizbullah is a party that resists the Israeli occupation of Lebanese land, the right of resistance is stipulated in the UN charter. All people of the world, including the People of the United States, resisted occupation when they were subjected to it.
Regarding the hijacking of the air plane, the group never claimed responsibility for it or for any such incidents.

What do you make of Hezbollah rocket attacks that kill Israeli children? How do we justify this? And bombings?

We resist the Israeli occupation of our land, we only target military vehicles and the armed troops who are supported by jetfighters, tanks, artillery and gun ships.
However our weapons are very primitive in comparison to the Israeli arsenal, we shell Israeli settlements in northern occupied Palestine, which originally belongs to the Palestinians, only as a defensive response when Israel attacks the villages, kills Lebanese civilians and destroys the infrastructure. A classical example of this was the massacre of Qana, under operation Grapes of Wrath, when Israel killed more than 100 innocent civilians, most of them children, elderly, and women who were taking shelter in a UN base.

Firstly , the Americans didn’t go to Iraq to rebuild it and they didn’t go to depose saddam Hussein to save the Iraqi people as they claim .
In retrospect , the Americans and saddam were allies for a very long time and If we read all the American statements about the aims of their invasion of Iraq and their talk about a new middle east that should come out after the invasion of Iraq and their talk about solving the issue of Palestine after the invasion of Iraq and their talk about the end of the Saudi political role after the domination o f Iraq , then we can know the real goals of this invasion , especially that the US administration made contracts with American companies .
Another indication that the Israel and America Insisted on the Israeli companies to enter Iraq ,the pressure campaign against Syria and Lebanon and on the Palestinian authority and the fierce campaign that Saudi Arabia is facing. all these indication proves and shows the American plans that came out after the Invasion
The current situation in Iraq is that there is resistance against the Americans on one hand and on the other hand there is an official refusal of the American presence from the members of the Iraqi governing council
