Question
Salmas brother, I have a question which is:
What is the reason behind all these attacks on Muslims in Italy?
Answer
Walikum Alsalam,
I believe the reason behind the attacks on Italian Muslims is mainly the huge international campaign against Islam, which is due to many other factors like: Most of Westerns are not familiar with Islam, not recognizing Muslims in Europe and the Islamic countries themselves.
In my experience in the religious dialogue we found that there is a shortage of Islamic information, a lot of faked information is spread around. Centuries have passed over them and the orientalists have recorded the information as they wanted, which formed an offensive opinion on Islam. This opinion was based on some senses like: Polygamy, the right to kill any body for the sake of saving my life, etc. These unclear data was recorded and translated and published in the western school books.
To change this image, we have to organize conferences and meetings with non-Muslims as an important step to represent the right Islam to non-Muslims and to help them gain the skill of dealing peacefully with Islam and other religions.
These distorted data reached schools and came out of them; we could apparently find that they call Muslims "Arabs," which might lead to these clash. We Muslims should be optimistic and look at the advantages also; we have now 600 rooms for Islamic prayers and two large Islamic organizations; one in Rome and the other in Milano.
Thanks

Question
did the Italian criticized Berlusconi on his policies against Migrants and Muslims, in particular?
Answer
From the very beginning, Berlusconi targeted making Italy more safe. According to him, safety meant kicking out gypsies who are coming from Arab countries. He sees that the huge crimes which Italy was known for were because of gypsies. Accordingly, Italians started to fear for their families' safety.
Up till now, Italians are not against the stance of the new Italian government. The government has removed the taxes on Italians' new houses, the thing that made all the Italians proud of their new government which is keeping its promises.
After kicking gypsies out, there are a strong expectation for considering the topic of Italian Muslims and focusing more on it. There is an Islamic committee which Berlusconi's government has formed. It consists of some Italian active Muslims. But up till now, the committee hasn't started working yet. And Muslims in Italy don't even know the committees stance on the new minister who is affiliated to the northern Italian league which is known for its offensive opinions against Islam.

Question
I know that Hejab is facing a huge offending, as the European think that Muslims will conquer them, so where is Italy from that debatable topic over Hijab
Answer
I think this fear of Islam is because of the slogan saying" Muslims are coming" which is largely common now in Europe.
The fear is not just of hejab, but also of the escalation of Islamic organizations' numbers in Italy and the growing numbers of converts. But when we look at the other religions, we will find that these forms of fears are not the same with other religions, most of those converts are to Islam, not to any other religion.
These aspects frighten the politicians and the religious men, they consider it as a call for an Islamize Europe, and that’s why they are against accepting Turkey in the European Union. One of the Italian researchers comes up with that: By 2020, Muslims in Italy will be more than the Italian themselves.
A very short period ago, Muslims in Italy were scattered and not organized but in the 1990s, Muslims became more organized; they built mosques and Islamic organizations that annoyed non-Muslims especially the Italian right wing.
But they need to deal with Muslims face-to-face to change their faked image, and actually, lots of Italian changed their mind regarding Muslims after the face to face contact with Muslims.
On the other hand, the old women in the south of Italy wears headscarf, Merriam (the virgin) wears headscarf in the ancient sculptures in churches, also in the bible the un-veiled women are shaved-headed

Question
Dear Imam Sameer Ben Moubarak,
Assalamou Alykoum,
How can Italian Muslims face Right-wing Escalation?
Answer
To face this escalation and attacks we have to work on many sided. First, we have to work on organizing the Italian Muslims themselves. An organized work through an organized community must be quickly ready. Secondly, Muslims have to collaborate more with the organizations that are concerned with defending the minorities' rights in Italy. We have to present an opposite image of Muslims rather than what the European media does present. It is important to work outside the mosques too and to get integrated positively inside the community and its governmental and non-governmental institutions.

Question
What is the Muslims reaction regarding the demolishing of the Mosque?
Answer
From my point of view, The story which was published about the demolishing of the mosque in Verona, was not totally right. The story mentioned that the mosque was destroyed, and it was replaced with "Ariana Falatschi's square, Ariana is a right-wing author, known for her anti-Islam attitude.
But in fact, this place was inconsistent with the building quality conditions, it's ceiling was made of a poisonous materials, which were banned long ago, in whole Italy. And the municipality called upon removing them and re-building the mosque in proper way to fit the intact building criteria. The municipality enabled Muslims to choose between re-building the mosque with the required criteria or sell it. It gave them a year as a limited time to choose, but after a year, the mosque's condition remained as it is, and no modifications had happened, as the expenses needed for the modifications were too much and Muslims could not bear them
So the municipality decided buy this land and gave Muslims two months to let those in charge vacate the mosque, after the vacating the municipality destroyed the mosque as it didn't fit the building criteria.
And regarding to the dead of the municipality's statement, as he said that the urn into a square for Ariana Falatschi, that was just an opinion, and most of the municipalities' members were rejecting this decision.

Question
Are the Italians highly-participating in the political scene in Italy? And to which extent do they participate in the Italian society?
Answer
Italian Muslims and Political participation:
Muslims in Italy do not participate in the political aspects by any means; they do not have their own parties or are members of any Italian party, except one or two. This fact is related to Muslims' qualifications. They are not ready to perform any political work; they are not organized enough for such participation. I believe this scene may be changing soon; as some Muslims are now applying for memberships in some right-wing parties. Moreover, Muslims have started to participate in non-Islamic institutions, schools and churches for a short period of time. This considered as a social- cultural cooperation. But they barely attend sessions and listed but do not participate actively in none of them. Though, indeed this light participation helped with presenting Islam through these Muslim participants to Italians, which is great in its self.
