I am having black spots in my face. And also I have black spots in my chest and my tummy. Is it black acne? Will you suggest what should I do?
May Allah reward you
Answer
Black heads of acne appear as tiny black dots clogging skin pores, usually on the face and upper back. They need to be extracted by a doctor or a trained nurse. But this does not seem to be your case. Black or brown spots on the upper trunk may occur after any skin inflammation, this is called post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation. It may also occur after mild fungal infection called tinea versicolor. It has to be seen by a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis.

i dont know how to describe about my problem skin but before this i had allergy(seafood).that scars my skin.i dont know which product that i can use .i really want to blemish the scars because its made me shy.help me plz.thank you
Answer
Your allergy has probably caused you unsightly brown spots. They should be treated with sunblocks with SPF 30 in the morning, to prevent further darkening and with depigmenting agents (containing arbutin, kojic or hydroquinone 2%)at night. If you have actual scars, which are permanent depressions in the skin, they can be treated with Fraxel laser sessions.

Question
Assalaamu-alaikum
My daughter is a Downs Syndrome child, 9 yrs old, she is suffering from skin problem since her birth, always itch on whole body, I tried the western medicine and herbs, went to the skin specialist, just ease the situation for awhile, this time lasted for 2 months already, specially around the eyes, bleeding, please advise.
May Allah (s.w.t.) bless you and give you rewards.
Answer
Down's syndrome is commonly associated with Atopic Dermatitis. This skin condition means excessively dry skin, which leads to itching and sometimes skin inflammation. It gets better as the child reaches 12-14 years. She should be treated daily with excessive emollients, use only mild soap, and oral antihistaminics. In case of inflammation, short courses of local application of corticosteroid creams or macrolides will be beneficial.

Question
Hello Doctor, Could you suggest some remedies for treating acute dandruff, hairfall and acne. What diet to follow and what to avoid?
Answer
Dandruff should be treated with medicated shampoos used constantly, as once you stop, the dandruff recurs. Acne treatment depends on the stage, whether mild or severe. In any case, use of anti-acne cleansing agents once daily is a must, along with local clindamycin solution for long durations. Dandruff and acne are not related to any type of food. Hair fall needs proper daily intake of iron, minerals as zinc and vitamins found in fresh vegetables and fruits. It should be treated with daily applications of hair tonics for at least 4-6 months.

Question
I have itchy reddish spots on my hands and scalp, these spots improve in winter and get worse during hot sunny weather when they turn into open sores with whitish scales and become very itchy, what could these be and is there any treatment? I tried cortisone based creams but they do not help.
Answer
To be accurately diagnosed it should be examined by a dermatologist. This is probably an eczematous eruption, worsened by ultraviolet rays. You need to use a sun block daily, along with emollients regularly, as dry skin makes the condition worse. Local steroid application for 1 or 2 weeks should be used to treat the acute inflammation. This does not prevent recurrence. Also topical macrolides can be helpful.

Question
i have been suffering from psoriasis and somewhat allergic problem for 3 years.i am struggling for recovering frome it. sometimes, i get recovered.after a course of time, it comes back. my sculf is also attacked with that.Would you please suggest me something more effective.
Answer
Psoriasis is a benign condition, however, it is also a chronic one, i.e. it comes and goes many times for many years. There is no remedy yet to treat psoriasis permanently. Many therapies,(which you were probably receiving)will cure the condition for some time. Therapies such as ultraviolet radiation, and oral and local retinoids are quite effective. Oral and injectable corticosteroids are to be strictly avoided as they worsen the condition after inducing a very brief improvement.
As regards to scalp psoriasis, always wash your hair with a medicated shampoo preferably containing tar, and keep it on for 10 min. before rinsing.

Question
What do you think about skin creams that promise to lighten the skin color, can they harm the skin or are they safe?
Answer
Many skin lightening creams contain herbal ingredients. These are safe, can be used for a long time and show effects slowly. Very few creams contain the ingredient Hydroquinone. This is very effective, but it should only be used under medical supervision for certain indicated conditions, as uncontrolled use may lead to blotchy hyper and hypo-pigmentations.

Question
After pregnancy or loss of weight some women notice a lot of stretch marks on their skin, is there any way to diminish their appearance and do anti-strech mark creams used during pregnancy really prevent them from appearing?
Answer
Anti-stretch mark creams used since the beginning of the 4th month of pregnancy give remarkable results and prevent them from appearing. The later one uses them the less effective they are. They show almost no effect after labor. Stretch marks already formed can be treated with pulsed dye laser surgery or with skin-tightening mesotherapy.

Question
Are there any effective remedies against dark circles under the eyes? I was not born with them they appeared a couple of years ago for no apparent reason.
Thank you.
Answer
Unfortunately, dark haloes under the eyes can not be treated with any skin lightening creams. Some therapies in the market promising cure, will only induce mild improvement, but nothing else will help, nothing is really effective. However, oral intake of iron for some time will improve the condition.
