Do you think there are any differences for you between normal and live counseling ?

Pertaining to your question - yes there is a big difference. In normal counseling, a counselor is presented with the whole person, including that which can not be discovered in live counseling. Everybody has a body language, a particular way of speaking, sounding, acting and reacting. These qualities are part of the signature which can only be responded to in normal counseling situations.
What live counseling through the internet (online counseling) presents, is an opportunity for those who do not have access and for those who need a possible solution to a situation that they are in confusion about from someone they do not know.

Actually at the begining it was difficult to understand the nature of live counseling and its effects, whether people really believe in it and appreciate this valuable support mechanism given via the net or not.
After a while I realized that this service helps many people from different cultures although there is no direct contact between the counselor and the questioner (face to face) but we feel its importance and we are asking God for reward.
The work is very challenging , however the team spirit within the office of Islamonline.net gives us the needed support and guidance. Our best days and hours are those when we really get a thank you message or when we feel the good reaction and good impact of our work. However, we still need your contribution and your feedback which enlightens our way.

You have been busy! How long as this been going on for? And yes, another question, how do you feel about yourself as a person?
Sometimes when we do not feel so good about who we are and at the same time we wnat to please everybody else and be liked by everybody else, we do exactly as you have described. We can make ourselves so busy doing this in order to not think. If we dared to stop doing any one of the activities that you have described, it means there is silence and with silence we become more receptive to our own thoughts, including our negative thoughts about ourselves in particular.
Before you can repent, try to think what you can do, because you do not want to repent and then find the irresistable urge to repeat what you have repented for.
As someone who is obviously very creative how can you re-direct this creativity into something positive? Are there women's circles wherby you share stories, songs, poems etc. Cand you put all your thoughts down and translate into art through some form of weaving or needel-work for instance?
It is in the act of creating something positive and at the same time beautiful that we can face some of our fears and come to terms with who we are. When we can do that, we no longer feel a need to be a certain way for others. If you can do this and in the meantime do a full fast (hearing, seeing, doing, talking negative things) this will help to re-train your mind. Once you feel that you stand a chance to commit yourself to the new you, then you will be in a better position to repent to those who you have offended, to yourself for not having faith in yourself and then finally, but not least to Allah s.w.t.

We really all thank you for your persistance to send questions and to celebrate with us this occasion that takes place every year.
First I'd like to apologize because it is difficult to open the counter to receive questions because we have potentials and we are making the best we can according to the resources we have.
Second I want to tell you a problem I faced after the Eid. As you know we usually open the counter weekly, but unfortunately when I came after the vacation I found out that there was a technical problem that the counter remained opened for three days and we received more than 115 questions at a time.
At that time I was shocked at first because I didn't know what to do as I have a certain number of counselors and even the procedure we follow to put things online takes time.
As a result I closed the counter for more than three weeks and in the office I celebrated when all the questions in the counter were answered and I was very happy for that.
We really regret that our resources are limited, we just do our best to enlarge the number of counselors and the services provided. Live counseling may be a wayout and a solution to that challenge.

My girl friend and I have decided to get married soon, but her father does not agree even though her mother does. We are sorry to hear about your circumstances and we pray that what is best for you will be for you.
As always, when a parent does not agree, it is your best interest to try and discover why they (in this case the father) does not agree. Is there something that you have neglected to do, that he wants you to do? Or, did your fiance's father have a particular person or type of person in mind for his daughter.
If the situation is be resolved in your favor, you will have to take time to find out what you can do to improve your position. In addition, if is possible at all, try to arrange to spend time with just the father.
At the end of the day, if you really want to marry this girl, do not give-up. The more you are willing to prove yourself in this situation, the better chance there is for you to change his mind.

Yes, it is quite an achievement by the grace and mercy of Allah. We appreciate your prayers for us as well. Our Cyber Counselor coordinating team puts great effort into recruiting and selecting some of the best counselors from around the world.
Alhamdulillah, in the past four years we have made great progress in helping people and will continue to improve. On the Cyber Counselor page itself, you will find out “Harvest” for 2003, a report on our efforts from the year 2003. Please visit it and you will see the wonderful results of our work from this past year.
As to where all the lost people are, we also wonder sometimes. But you will be amazed that behind the scenes, IOL actually has to put a limit on the number of questions that we can entertain per week and per month. The volume of questions we receive is quite high and we do our best to provide quality responses to every question we receive.
In addition, we also respond to many questions directly to the user because of requests for confidentiality. Therefore, in our estimation, there are a lot of “lost” people as you say writing in to use our services but sometimes we cannot help all of them during a particular week, and other times, we do not post their response at their request, for the public to see.

Yes you are right and we actually were thinking of not having this session but two things hindered us:
we already have received a couple of questions this morning hours before the beginning of the live session.
Secondly we have last week announced the session and then we postphoned it due to technical problems , and to postphone it again was not so easy.
Yes you are right , and you can hardly imagine how we sit here, trying to sound happy and cheerful ,while inside it is just "bleeding".
May Allah Almighty grant the Shaikh Paradise and may we one day reach this poisition of devouting life and death for the sake of Allah.
