2,000 Internet Cafes To Dot Indian Capital Next Year
NEW DELHI, Dec 20 (AFP) - Local authorities are planning to dot the Indian capital New Delhi with 2,000 Internet cafes by the end of next year, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Monday. "The Delhi Finance Corporation will provide all necessary help to convert 500 public call stations into cyber information centers. In all 2,000 stations will be made cyber-cafes by next year," Dikshit told a business conference here. "The capital's vision is to become a cybercity," she said.
India has earmarked information technology and computer software as priority development areas, with ambitions to make India a global software power by early next century.
