Islam Online (Washington, DC) - Flughafen Airport in Frankfurt, Germany is the first European airport to begin the EyePass Evaluation Program, featuring the extraordinary reliability, security and convenience of its iris recognition technology.
The security devices present the German airport with the opportunity to test this new technology. The EyePass has been designed for use at sporting events as well as airports. In the case of Flughafen, the devices will be used for scanning the iris of employee's eyes trying to access restricted areas of the airport.
In a press release prepared by the EyeTicket Corporation, Herr Johannes Endler, Flughafen Frankfurt Main AG said, "We continue to enhance our security profile. Making it more effective and, at the same time, even more transparent is quite beneficial." He continued, "We are excited about being the first facility to test this product, and are optimistic that it will meet our requirements.
So far, the EyeTicket Corporation has its product in very few places including one airport. Charlotte/Douglas International Airport located in Charlotte, NC is the only other airport in the world that is currently testing the program. However, the two airports could set a trend for the future in security.
With the constant concern in airports to weed out potential troublemakers, including terrorists and drug traffickers, this type of technology could become very popular in airports throughout the world. Eventually, airports could use the EyePass to scan traveler's eyes as they enter the boarding area of a specific flight. Once in the records, it would be much more difficult for dangerous people to sneak aboard flights.
That would be a revolutionary change in the efficiency and security of airports. At the same time, innocent people who have dealt with the embarrassing and offensive experience of being profiled perhaps would never have to deal with that again. Stewart Mann, Chairman and CEO of EyeTicket Corporation, said in the press release, "We are providing the airline industry and airports around the world with a revolutionary alternative for easing the cumbersome identification process and ensuring the security and well-being of its customers and employees"
